are they clipping the barrier or is it just snapping?

Not sure, I missed the cause, but there have been a lot of karts clipping the barriers over the past two days.

Commentators just mentioned that the barriers have had to be bolted down due to the high winds.

@tjkoyen had a good heat going and then something happened off-camera on lap 8 and put him down several spots. Not sure if he has another heat before LCQ or what…

Yeah he does. This was the first heat race.

Yikes. Usually I would expect the to be partially filled with sand. Not that it doesn’t bring its own challenges of course.

I’d imagine you would be driving with a bent axle for a while before it shears off if you tag a barrier.

Wow, crazy master shifter heat one. Interesting to see if the win holds for Musgrave. In the meantime @Muskabeatz has to be content with P14. Troubles in lap one recovers and passes this year’s Masters SKUSA champ before the end.

Yeah, Lammers played hard ball with Billy a few laps back and Billy returned the favor. Seemed to me a like a love tap that Lammers lost; Billy’s not a dirty driver.

Lammers defended pretty normally, Billy flat punted Lammers. That hole was never gonna be there in that spot.

Yeah, the defensive move seemed a bit aggressive to me, but yeah, perhaps Billy forced the issue a bit much.

Musgrave penalized down to third. Somehow @Muskabeatz moved up to p13. Top ten calling his name…

Telecast is down right now but looks like @tjkoyen heat 2 ended early. :stuck_out_tongue:

It could be so many things. Thin walled axles (illegally thin), over tightening grub screws repeatedly over time. Different kerbs, rough surfaces. Probably a combination of all these things.

Not quite bolted down. They drilled holes in the pavement then stuff a piece of like 1” pc pipe down in to help keep the barriers from moving due to winds.

If SKUSA wants an automotive engineer and metallurgist to take a good look at these parts and provide recommendations, I can get there in five hours.

Heat one was going good, I was rolling and up to the top 20 but got caught up behind two drivers trying to murder each other and got booted wide and lost a bunch of spots.

Heat two I got shoved around and couldn’t get rolling and then got put a bit wide and clipped the barriers in one, turning my axle into a hockey stick.

Probably in the LCQ now, tomorrow’s heat will determine how deep I start there. I’m a bit out of my depth; not as dialed as I need to be from a driving perspective because I am not in the seat enough. Feeling a bit defeated on that front.

On setup I think we are going down the wrong path possibly. I keep dumping weight-jacking into the kart to try and generate side bite but it just won’t dig on this dusty parking lot. I think I may do a 180 for tomorrow and work on generating grip in other ways. Not a lot to lose.

When everything is working well I can get within a half second of anyone here, but I am not consistent enough and the racecraft in the mid-pack is a disaster, so sometimes it is hard to escape the bottle neck.

heard RPG is cheating again?
Also is it true all RPG drivers do bad in car racing when they go up the ladder, like car racing?

Can we maybe not slander teams or drivers

Whether RPG is cheating or not is between RPG and the Tech team, as far as it matters for anyone else RPG is fully legal and you’ll have to beat them on track just like everyone else.

Regarding whether or not their drivers succeed in cars, I don’t think they do any better or worse than most other kids that go into cars. Nate Cicero is a multiple time race winner in MX-5 Cup, Max Taylor won USF Juniors and finished third in USF2000 this year. The reality is a lot of kids that go into cars are going to struggle, or run out of money and can’t keep racing, no matter how good they are or what team they’re with.

Some people are mad because RPG is a successful team and people pay a lot of money to run with them, but they’re well prepared and put down results. I have my own opinions but as far as it concerns anyone else, they’re a good team that costs a decent bit of money to be on and that’s enough to make some people very frustrated.

Sounds like there may be rain coming? I thought the weather was pretty clear for the whole weekend
