That’s what I meant. That’s the 177 degree fov. (Which will get slightly cropped by ReelSteady).
@nikspeeds goes to Etown. Gets the full experience. It’s wet, the track is broken. The karts are falling apart. But it’s Sunday and you are racing.
E-Town: One
E-Town has a glorious tradition of just sucking so bad, yet, you keep coming back. It’s got charm, like old Asbury Park. It’s an NJ thing, I think.
Max Hyperview:
Party night gave me a chance to try out the 12 with max lens mod 2.0.
I am very please with my yellow racing suit! It adds some color to the scene.
I was wondering how much ballast weights the karts’ built-in holders can support, and turns out the answer is 30kg, in 5kg increments:
I think they have to have sign off from the insurance people. Seems like it should be fairly straightforwards but you never can tell.
I gotta say, even though we don’t use them, the brakes on these are pretty good for rentals.
So I talked to Will tonight, and he said insurance was never an issue. He said they’re not looking into ballast weights because he doesn’t want to right now, because when running the leagues in MA it added like 1-1.5 hours to the night to continually check karts and make sure everyone had the appropriate amount of weights before they leave the pits. And that people would try to game the system and pit their karts and leave the weight in it to come back out with a lighter kart.
I feel like if it really added that much time, there’s probably some procedural changes that could be made. I can’t think of why it should be more than a few seconds per kart. They know who is assigned to each kart, and the karts only hold 6 weights. At most the need a table like kartNumber | numberOfWeights
and just run through the list
He said the confusion may have been about Supertrack, which does require state and insurance approval.
This makes sense. I can see why he doesn’t want to lengthen the process (which is pretty well oiled).
I wonder though, if at sign-up, he can ask for body weight so that he can at least sort initial groups by weight.
I am ok being less competitive if the evening is quicker.
