Tyre graining(?)

Hi there all,
Recently just ran my 3rd race ever, and coming out of the pre-final my tyres looked a bit grained on the left side compared to the right (pictures shown) I wanted to know if this is normal or I need to raise/lower the tyre pressure or change setup (tyres are evinco blues)

That doesn’t look like graining to me, just wear.

That’s not graining. Looks 100% normal. Really good wear actually.

The tires will always wear harder on the side that is loaded more often, so on a track with more right hand corners, the left tires will wear more. Check your tire pressures after you come off the track and see the differential between left and right side pressures, and then drop or raise them to equalize them accordingly. For example, you may find you need to set your left side tires lower to start so they equalize to the right side tires at the end of the session.

Those tires look good. I’d still play around with tire pressures and let the stop watch be the judge.

Also would note that it looks like you are driving on a pretty low grip track given how smoothly they are wearing. Typical of something like a parking lot track or temp circuit. The tires end up getting “sanded” smooth in those sorts of circuits so it can be harder to tell sometimes what the actual wear pattern is because the tires come in so smooth.

Track just got resurfaced, so maybe that’s why it looks like this.

Hmm, Ok.

Thanks for all the input. I did increase the left side tyre pressure by 0.5 PSI and I drove a real good race, almost 4 tenths up the previous session on my fastest lap. Ultimately, I’m going off very limited knowledge of this stuff so I’m trying to learn/diagnose things if they come up.

Thanks again!

That is graining.

Those tires look great to me. What you’re seeing is small amount of pickup from the track\pits.
