Love that a group of forum members from around the world arrived at the same event.

I felt the pain of shit breaking when I watched Alan’s video. I don’t miss that :joy: Especially bottom end siezes that were not self inflicted through carb adjustment.

There’s 2000 Birel for sale locally to me…. Guy wants $1500 for it though. Feck off like, it’s not a restored chassis or anything like that.

I’m selling my 206 stuff, so who knows what’s next.

Lot’s of stress for the lads. dev was like a surgeon on Sunday morning. I watched both times when Oli’s thread went and Sam’s bolt snapped. Both times I had a thought of … “I hope that don’t go”. Must be some bad luck charm ha

The suspicion was ingestion of something at the track on Saturday for both Oli and Sam engine wise. very unusual. Sam’s engine literally went after it started. Just unlucky I suppose.

I met the guy who started Mari at Migliaro as well.

All in all a very good trip

One thing I will add, the family friendly atmosphere was brilliant. Inside the circuit was a like a town fete. With only one kid on track, and everyone else firmly adult, the organisers needed to keep kids entertained. Was a bouncy castle too. I maybe should have made more of that in the video, but it was just a different vibe. I imagine Quincy GP is quite similar.

Yeah way the pits were intertwined with the apartments was great. AirBnB opportunity for F100 heads there. Proper karting festival. Rock Island is good, but it doesn’t quite meander through the city quite like that.

Shame F100 (in the true FA/FSA form) still isn’t quite legal under vintage rules in the US. At least not in the same way “proper” F100 is actually ran.

As I understand it, engine has to be pre95 and has to be a US homologated model. Until pre95 became an option in vintage here I didn’t even know “US” homologation for 100’s was even a thing.

There might be a bodywork component to it as well.

Lastly, they allow clutches. Yuk :joy:

Fookin’ Epic. :chequered_flag::chequered_flag::chequered_flag::chequered_flag::chequered_flag::chequered_flag:

Ciao Alan, saw that video a while ago and recommend to a bunch of friends into the sport.

That was a mega. A great insight into old school karting, part of what this should be all about. Highly recommended

Well done Sir

This was my own epic moment. The race was so hectic at some point I lost track of what was going on, people into barriers, seize&spins…so do I push, do I save it…I kept going until I turned back and thought…what the heck is Oliver doing behind me? Then realized I finished 3rd, somehow

Scullion and Zani were untouchable that day, especially on race pace. The rest was pure madness.

Interesting background story: the guy that you see seizing in front of Oliver (Pinardi) is another very good driver with tons of experience in these racetracks. He tried to win San Carlo for decades , and the win always eluded him. Finally he was ahead, and seized during last lap.

The fight will resume next year
