Have you been to their outdoor track? amazing place. I believe they are hondas.
I have not. It is actually only 25 minutes from my in-laws house in Dartmouth near the South Coast, but the last time I was up there it dumped 16 inches of snow overnight so we had to settle for the indoor one. Definitely on my to-do list! ā¦And if Wifey ever talks me into moving up there, I know there will be a track close by.
Its my favorite track by far. I hope it opens back up eventually
Almost got it sorted, turns out I didnāt do a KP livery, working on one. Just about got my rig set up just waiting for a 5m audio cable and usb to hook up the wheel and headphones to the Mac
Some video from 2020 Dart Kart Club Finale. Jason(onboard) and Jack put Animal limited modified motors on their karts. Jack has his pretty well setup with a purpose setup kart. Jason swapped motors between races so has an inferior setup. They hit ~109 in the back stretch using gearing and rollout math.
Though heās not a poster here, hereās the latest from Ryan. Here he walks us through how heās thinking in a race where his pace isnāt where heād like. Very useful to understand his way of doing a race.
This hits close to home. I was defending similarly yesterday from 3rd. I basically did the same thing, made a mistake. The mistake was compounded by the secondary mistake of trying to ācoverā what I had lost from the mistake. The secondary move was one too many.
I should have taken my lumps and let him try the pass, rather than mount a secondary defense.
All it accomplished was me ending up in the sand trap and finishing 6 instead of 3.
Were you on slicks or wets? Looks like thereās a mix of choices on the other karts.
Piling on:
Did you intentionally back off into t1at start? Canāt tell if traffic or you saying āletās see what happensā. Perhaps gearing?
In any case, I like the āpushā pass. Was reasonable and well done. @tjkoyen is this considered fine? Seems ok to me.
I like how quiet your drive is. Very calm. No squeaking tires.
Did you hit something or did the gopro just decide it was done? You were closing on that guy ahead⦠ended too soon!
i was on wets only 2 drivers were on slics and i laped both
ya so for t1 i knew it was wets and it was jn so i was preempting a pile up wile what happened in the ka and lo206 pre final. and ya the aggressive ish pass in 4 is fully legal i tried to follow him as he passed the other kid.and ya the go pro decided it had enough.for the next 10 laps i was doing my best to get buy him and last few laps i was on his bumper and tried a few passes but cuz it was wet if you go off the like its like oil so i never set up a good one
Iām not the race director ![]()
Looked fine to me. Karting a contact sport at times. Just was a little nudge, not malicious. Olivier pushed him through a gap and the lead kart got a little squirrely. Maybe held onto his bumper a little too long into the corner, but didnāt look like he moved him purposefully.
yup its legal unless you bumper gets pushed in
Well done then, it looked pretty good to me.
I have never seen a tuned pipe on an LO206 before. Is this common?
its a muffler only used at go pro because the track is near a park so we use the special exhaust to quiet the engine.
New episode of Karting 101 now up:
Would love your feedback as usual! And of course, like and subscribe so I know people are interested and I can muster the enthusiasm for more of these
Braking is my biggest weakness. I feel like I dont have a good sense of the limit. I dont lose that much time but I feel like I can break so much harder. Iāll watch it tonight
I guess for me, its more about how late I can brake and not feel like I am over-driving the kart through the corner. Being a Tall/Heavy driver, I have a lot of weight transfer and there seems to be a fine line between being quick and being smooth. Slow is smooth, but sacrifices quickness. Driving on the edge is quick, but not always smooth. I know a lot of this is just me needing more consistent seat time. I feel like my career is not very simpatico with track time.
