I’ve been using a set of Alpine* gloves and love them but decided to upgrade to OMP gloves and they are softer and equally as “tacky” as my previous A-Stars.

Love the grip on the -273s I have. They are thin so they tend to wear out after a season, but they fit great, look nice, and are very comfortable and grippy. I also had some FreeM Spider Touch gloves that I liked but weren’t as grippy as the -273s.
After manufacturing my own Oktane gloves for a few years, I’m happy to buy from someone else. What a pain to produce karting safety gear.
How much protection do these super thin gloves offer if you’re tossed out of the kart and on to the asphalt? I can’t imagine very much.
None. I think it’s mostly just about grip on the wheel.
I mean they are basically yoga pants for hands.
havent got ejected off a kart yet will update you when it happens
I wish OMP would re-release their old school gloves…they had a carbon knuckle protector, and I’m contemplating getting with a Pakistani clothing mill and producing some myself, with a 3d-printed knuckle protector:
This style glove, with this style knuckle guard:
I would buy a pair because all these post race scale line fistfights are tough on the knuckles.
I guess I should paste my winter glove review here:
Alpinestars Tempest V2
They describe these as their rain gloves. I see them as worthy winter gloves, in general. While they are driving specific, they do feel much more like a pair of regular winter gloves. Less flexible, but, warmer.
These have come in handy at Xtreme Zone. While it’s an indoors facility, they run gas karts. Which means the track is very well ventilated and is usually around the same temp as ambient outdoors temp. So, it can get in the 30s in there, and, you feel that in my regular old driving gloves.
I’m quite happy with these. They are very drivable and have been keeping my hands toasty. I highly recommend a set of these for folks in climates where having a pair of cold weather gloves makes sense. These won’t help you in Minnesota cold snaps, but they are useful and warmer than standard gloves.
I use the Alpinestars Tech-1 V4
and am very happy with them. Tried the V3 as well but I really prefer the material of the V4 even though they’re a bit pricier.
I have two pairs, one for on track and one for sim, both have held up well after 6-12 months of almost everyday use
I’ve heard Moradness gloves are really good both for sim racing and karting. I ordered a pair in yesterday and it should arrive in 2-5 business days.
Having been chucked from a kart with Yoga Pants gloves, you shouldn’t be using your hands anyways. The safest landing is a tuck-and-roll, so you never want to actually try and catch yourself. Abrasions aside, it is asking for a broken wrist. I’d still like knuckle protectors for when the roll doesn’t go well, but ideally they don’t help. Also, ideally you won’t be in that situation though, so clearly things are not ideal
Karting Weighted-knuckle gloves, just what we need for the post race brawls
The OMP KS-4 is good on wet and dry. Although it doesn’t have rubber on it’s palm, it has suede leather, and the fabric is pretty good quality. I drive 125cc with them!
