I’m gonna go with there is no wrong when it comes to jumping go karts. No one will remember who won but they will remember Sally getting vaulted by little Timmy.
Lots of real-estate for advertising
Oval flat karts have significant wheel coverage. Still fairly easy to tangle and roll a kart.
Average Goodwood Kartways activities.
Used to pretty cool when you had Schumacher turning up. Used to be two races.
Now it’s a like many hours Enduro with teams.
At this rate I can’t wait for driverless karts!
Oh, that’s just great. We’ll need three different sets, a closed one for cold or rainy days, a more open one for hot days, and one made of steel mesh for the 105 degree days in the desert.
Meanwhile, we can’t even get the FIA to require six bucks worth of Vectran cable and two crosses to hold the rear wheels on when the axle breaks…
There must’ve been a truck parked in the paddock when they came up with the idea
its the FIA doing FIA things. This has to be the stupidest thing on earth.
This must be a bad joke, FIA have done many stupid things in the past but this is very high on the list.
The only way out of this (knowing how the brains of some of the people there work) is to have the tires manufacturers state that the tire is homologated to opperate in free stream air, without any restrictions.
The consequences of running a tire covered being uknown, a tire manufacturer would not be able to assure its entegrity as per the homologation fiche.
This is the only way i see them backtracking this…
Brains? they have brains?
Not a joke
Then why am I laughing?
coz if you didn’t you’d be crying
I do fear that when some one went this far with it then it will come eventuly.
I just hope some adult turns up and tell them to stop coming up with stupid inventions that are to solve issues that do not need solving.
Its not long ago FIA started to homologate rib protectors, now they are between 350-550 euro.
I have said it before and will say it again, FIA dont have a clue what they are doing….
I do think the KBP and the relative R&D that went into it is one of the best projects of the last few years. Independent of the cost, it was a scientific driven approach, with data collected along the way…
Birel’s new sidepods made for better airflow and cooling the rears…
Wheel covers - “Hold my beer!”
Well i agree, but to be honost its just a very exspensive thing that will drive the club karter away, these wheel covers will do the same thing.
Over exspensive Bodywork (looking at you OTK) is doing the same, tyres that are gone after one raceday the same thing, engines in the seniors (OK class) that requires new top constantly is not club friendly either.
And without the clubkarter there wont be many left to fill the grids, look around Europe in very few places the FIA classes have good fields.
Sometimes I yearn for more of a connection to the European karting scene, but it’s instances like this where I’m glad we are immune to a lot of the misguided things the FIA try and push.
I’ll stick to KA on a harder tire with a bulletproof engine here.
I’ll counter that the FIA know exactly what they’re doing… it’s just not for the benefit of most people racing karts. To me, that’s fine honestly. FIA does their thing to serve themselves and their segment of the karting industry and the entirety of karting does theirs. Some overlap as needed (homologation for example is useful)
The FIA serves the racing pyramid (I find it hard to call it a ladder). With their customer base being the teams and manufacturers of equipment for each step of the way.
All that said, I think we’re being trolled with these wheel covers?
