Why do you Kart?

It seems all the puddles end up in your lap.

Not a bad idea to start off on a good day. I think sheā€™ll love it no matter what though

I prefer racing in the rain because Iā€™m significantly better comparatively in the rain vs. the dry. Being 6ā€™2" is occasionally advantageous.

We used to dry the track at our local club by having open practice on the track and Iā€™d always go out on slicks because we didnā€™t have/want to waste rain tires. I think that helped a lot in learning how to drive in the rain. Definitely something I recommend for everyone.

I would start on a good day to get used to the kart, but practicing in the rain is definitely helpful as well.

Iā€™m gonna guess that most didnā€™t drive in the wet on day 1. Then again, I could be wrong.

Speaking of wet track days. I watched this yesterday, mustā€™ve been that female intuition I keep hearing about

No and thatā€™s why i am not a world champion! ha

I am guessing Lewis was born in a typhoon, then.

I actually recall racing Lewis at a clubby in winter and the track was covered in ice just off line. Was dicy as hell, I had a proper few spins that day. Frozen hands fun

I want to give her as broad a range of experience as I can (hot, cold, wet or dry), but her mother is on the overprotective side so we will have to ease into some of it. I need to find a rain suit at minimum before Momma is going to let her out in the rain. From the mechanic side, I would also like to find a rain cover for the carb. Donā€™t want to ruin a motor because she drives through a puddle. We will get there!

Gatorade bottle does the trick on my air filter. Or you can use a dunkin cup that you got on the drive up

I was thinking something along those lines. I have seen a lot of the LO206 guys doing something like that when it starting raining.

I think you are a HERO to your family! I am very sorry for the loss of your brother and father. And I can certainly see why you made the decision you did. You did it for your family. Good on you, mate! You are a good father! Bravo.

And what better way to keep the racing juices going than karting?

I am just getting into this sport. Did the rental kart thing, and got hooked. Iā€™m fortunate that my wife actually let me get into it further by allowing me to buy my own kart (which is being built and waiting for a motor). I canā€™t wait to turn some laps in my own kart! Why? I just like the thrill of cornering and the G forces and the feeling of actually racing! (as opposed to the F1 and WRX racing I was doing on XBox.) My wifeā€™s car is a 2016 Miata and is such a blast to drive, but I didnā€™t want to wreck her car if I did something stupid! I found out about my local kart track, gave it a try, and like I said, I was hooked! Now, I will be able to get my ā€œGo Fastā€ ya yas out, without worrying about crashing an expensive car. AND I can go and race head to head too? YEAH!!!
