Will a Birel Fit in an F-150 Bed Without Disassembly?

Hello,

I am in the market for a new truck and considering an F-150 with a 5.5 or 6.5-foot bed. Can a Birel kart fit without removing wheels, bumpers, or anything else?

Would appreciate insights from anyone who has tried this!

Thank you,

Yes, typically. The width between the wheel wells is about 50 inches. This is wider than most folks run their sidepods, but not everyone. Measure your kart to be sure. The other thing that gets tricky is length. Most karts with bumper on are around 72 inches. 6.5 foot bed would be fine, but for my 6 foot bed, I had to run the tailgate down.

A buddy runs this thing, but I just strapped the kart in so it wouldnt roll out the back.

I have a 6.5ft bed on my Dodge Ram and that length works for me to get the kart in and close the tailgate if I remove the front bumper.

it fit in the bed of my 2000 f-150, not sure what the dimensions are nowadays.

I had an old Birel which fit in perfectly fine in my 6.5ft ´02 F150 Lightning bed, just had to take off one single side pod.
It´ll probably help if you let us know which year F150.

Most likely 2024, for a new lease. The 6.5’ beds are harder to come by than the standard 5.5’ (at least where I live).

Great to hear! Do you have a 5.5’ or 6.5’ bed?

it was a 2000 standard cab, 8’ bed. but width wise, it fit between the wheel wells and would roll all the way up to the front of the bed. i also have an arrow x2 where i ran a wider axle, and it would fit past the wheel wells all the way up until it hit the rear wheels, but that would still get it in there. i do know that 5.5’ probably isn’t long enough to roll it straight in without taking off body work, bumpers, etc. i now use a 12’ long flatbed trailer and i can not get two karts on it, end to end, without taking bumpers off.

Without taking the bodywork off, it just fits right in to a 6,5 bed.
It´s so tight that you dont have to strap it down. So it won´t fit in a 5,5 bed without taking stuff apart.
I think front and rear bumper should be enough though.

In my f-150, I have the 5.5 bed and the only thing I have to take off is the front bumper.

Thank you for sharing. I will keep both options open then.

Thank you Buck, sounds good!

No it will not fit in an F-150 without removing the nose or running with the tailgate down and strapping it in. Side pods on our CRG and OTK both fit fine in F-150 or F-250.

I have a 4-door 4x4 short box F-250 and everything fits fine with the tailgate up. My dad has a 4-door 4x4 short box F-150 and it does not fit with tailgate up.

Remove one side pod, 1 rear wheel, and rear bumper and I can get it into my 2006 Volvo V70. Safe and does not get wet.

Not a F150 but a 2020 Silverado Extended Cab (not a crew cab) with standard bed – Birel RY30 fits perfectly – approx 1/4" clear at back of sidepods between bed wheelwells (I slip some foam between pod and wheelwell so the kart numbers don’t rub off) and the length is about 3/4" to spare to shut tailgate – the 2 pieces of blue foam at the rear bumper get placed between bumper and tailgate to keep the kart from bouncing back and forth – 4 big tupperware bins in rear passenger compartment for tires and gear
