Good luck. Perhaps the Sheik has some connects. :grinning:

Seems likely. I kinda like Otmar, he really backs his team, no matter how ridiculous a position it puts him in.

Like constantly having to say how good Lance is.

Lance has improved! :racing_car::racing_car::racing_car::racing_car:

Yeah, Otmar was constantly having to say crazy stuff like that. :wink:

I see Lance in the same way I see a lot of kids in national karting. Spend enough money and time in something and inevitably, you’ll be okay at it. There are drivers on the national tour that run about the same level as me, but have been racing for longer, drive more often in a season, and spend way more money than I do. I would expect a driver with that much behind them to have better results, similarly Lance is doing okay in F1, but I would expect a kid like that whose dad literally bought an F1 team to be able to perform better.

This is not to say that he is untalented, I think at this point it’s hard to argue that his performance is showing that he shouldn’t be in F1, but I’m a bit underwhelmed when considering how much he has being him, especially considering the 2020 car he had and his performance compared to Perez that year.

…maybe I am arguing he shouldn’t be in F1

He also has the personality of a door.

Yes, he’s generally a really nice kid, but that’s about all the depth there is to him. Also, not a fan of the way he talks to his race engineer. Gives off a very “spoiled rich kid” tone.

Compared with Yuki, he is not that bad. You know at least it is his family business.

Comparing to Yuki isn’t really fair, since Yuki has one season of experience and Lance has five now. Yuki was a disaster in the beginning of the year, but really settled down by the end and improved a ton, especially in qualifying. I think he will be far more consistent next season.

Yes well that’s how it is. We all know motorsport skill comes from seat time and that requires cash.

Talent does not necessarily rise to the top here. It runs out of cash and has:

A) crushing disappointment followed by years of self loathing

B) finds a way to keep racing in their lives through some other “career path”

So yeah I’m serious when I say Lance has improved. But, in a meritocracy, there wouldn’t be a seat for him.Racing is not a meritocracy.

I think every driver has had just about as much seat time as others in F1. I dont think owning a team would make you a better driver. Is he F1 caliber? Yes. Would he have made it to F1 without buying teams? probably not.
