does anyone know what corner they were giving it out on because i received one even tho there’s no where to really cut the track
I know Robusto got one for cutting in the final chicane because he went four wheels in the grass on the inside of the curb.
impressed the sproket didnt brake tbh
That’s why I needed to watch it again, I couldn’t remember if Race threw it in going into the corner or crossed him over coming out. In that case, Brandon has nowhere to go and is deserving of that space in the outside lane of the exit.
Turn 1 and turn 5 mostly I think. Like TJ said, cutting the chicane as well, but I think a lot of them were for 4 wheels inside the apex curbs at 1 and 5 on the start of races.
thats what i thaught starts were quite sketch it would be nice if they did something like t2 at gopro on the inside beacus most of the wrecks were simply beacuse there was no where to go.
Meh. If the grid is smaller, it will be harder to make the cut, which may translate into more aggression in the heat races
but the heat races would be easier to regulate if there are 20/30 drivers compared to 50 also there more likely to be spread apart.
Masters heat seemed like the right amount. 25 karts or so. Bummed that the Carpellati bros were struggling. Was rooting for ya @Muskabeatz but then the front fell off. Nice effort all weekend imho.
That’s why they split the pre-finals for some classes. They really only want 30-ish karts MAX on the track at once.
True, it looked like it funneled down pretty good into turn 1 and would’ve been hard to avoid a pile-up. That’s an unfortunate quirk of the track layout.
The vibe I got was “I’m coming through wether you have position or not”. This made for a very fun 5th to 1st T1 on day 1, tho.
On an uncontroversial note: the Rocco Simone post race interview was soooo adorable. High five young man.
Thanks! Made good progress throughout the weekend, so not too bad considering lots of firsts (chassis, track, and first tag race since 2014). Sucked to end the weekend on a mechanical failure, but we’ll come back stronger next event.
Agreed on frequency, it’s something I’m hoping to address going forward. I definitely missed a few this past weekend…
… and this was probably one of them. I think the penalties as they are will do nicely. I have a 20 position reserved for severe/wreckless contact, but we didn’t dish it out this weekend. I’ve also been issuing 5/10 second penalties for track cutting, so hopefully people won’t shortcut lap 1 at Road America this year haha. This is sort of a “changing of the guard” type year right now, so (while not an excuse) it’s taking me a little time to adjust and start tidying up some things. Hoping for some changes to hit at GoPro to make the staff’s life (and mine) easier.
I’m a pretty big fan of the 34 kart limit, I think it’s the perfect amount for a main event.
Mostly T1 on the starts and T4 (the left-hand kink). I think we had a few at T5 and T6 as well. GoPro T2 will be interesting
If anyone has questions or thoughts about the officiating, I’m an open book. This is a learning experience for me too
Solid start little bro. Keep digging
Do you have/want to post the full video? That was a pretty solid first lap. You could’ve pushed up against the bumper of the 769 going into 10 more, that let the 797 get in front of you when you should’ve gotten by him there, but everything else looked good.
That was fun to watch. Nice squeezing your way up.
i have it but i only made it a few corners till a pile-up occurred in t8 i can send it later tho
Oliver, we enjoy watching pileups. I think those are usually the highest viewed videos anyways (crashes).
true, ill try and send it when i have a few minutes
Did they mess with the track limits slightly? I don’t recall some of the walls surrounding the track (big green ones). Exit of the 180 cutback after the first? Chicane (nearest pits) had a pretty permanent seeming structure but the entry was modifiable with huggy barriers.
It looks like they got some sort of moveable wall system for the pit in/out.
