2024 Formula 1 Season Discussion

Would be cool after he retires from F1 he goes to Las Vegas or Euro KZ, though most likely he will focus on his sim stuff or go to WEC maybe.
At that point is more possible to see him in KZ Master

We know Redbull can nail the aero regulations but going forward the engine is going to come into play for them. Remember at the beginning of the hybrid era with the Renault and how it really hindered their performance. 2026 will be interesting to see if they can nail both the aero and engine designs.

News today that Newey has told RB bosses he’s leaving.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if MV’s contract has an out clause if he leaves.

Aston gave Newey a big offer. Does he take it and help guide his old colleagues that Aston already poached, maybe giving Fernando another WC? Or does he take the offer Ferrari has given him for years now? And then where does Max land?

This is a bigger deal than the driver market imo.

Alonso wouldn’t commit long term unless he knew something big was in the works.

Lawrence wouldnt let Lance warm the seat this long unless he thought there was a real chance he could give his son something to win a race with.

Or does Newey go to Ferrari and give Lewis and Charles the tools they need to break through?

Or does Newey go back to designing boats!

I just wonder how much use he’d be. He must have a lengthy gardening leave written into his current contract. I’d think at least a year. If he left very soon, he might be early enough to have an impact of the 2026 car (the rules for which haven’t been finalised yet).

He’s also 65, i suspect he’s the sort of guy who will stop when he dies and not before, but does he want to deal with Ferrari politics, moving country etc, probably not. Whilst I imagine Aston will let him do whatever he wants.

Of course Red Bull have stated he has a contract to the end of 2025.

I agree, unlikely he goes to Ferrari as he has stated he wants to stay in the UK. He will be of use but not to Lewis or Fernando, they will be done by the time his impact would be felt!

Interesting news right here. So bottas out? And who is gonna fill his seat for 2025? KMag and ?

Bearman for sure will be in it

Bearman seems to be who they are gunning for alongside K-Mag.

So is Zhou is out? I’m kinda surprised by that honestly. He’s not spectacular but he’s….consistent, and huge for F1 commercially…

Andretti opened something big in UK…

Speculation is Audi wants a fresh line-up. Zhou has been steady if not all that quick. No real breakout races from him yet. And if they have Hulk they have someone basically better than Zhou in every aspect other than longevity.

Audi is holding out for Sainz but I think Audi would be Sainz’s last resort because of the uncertainty and probability of having to build the team up for a few years before results come.

Big confidence from Andretti. I think they are banking on F1 allowing them in as soon as they have their own engine program.

Yuppp andretti still not backing up. They opened lots of job opportunities in there.

Lotta rumors bearman will race alongside KMag. Hmmm. Any rumors who is filling hamilton seat for 2025?

is liam lawson still gonna be a backup for 2025? Or he is filling ricciardo seat?

I heard Lawson will replace Daniel if there is no turnaround by Imola.

Merc want to see how Antonelli develops throughout the year I think and they will place him at Williams or Merc depending on how strong he is.

Sainz or Antonelli seem the leading candidates but there are wild rumors that Vettel is considering returning as a stop gap if Antonelli isn’t ready to step into Merc right away.

I would take a chance on Antonelli personally over bringing Vettel in but would prefer Sainz given the choice.
What would be interesting to me would be to see Sainz at Williams just to see if Albon is all he is cracked up to be.

Sainz supposedly has a big offer from Audi, but he’s waiting to see if anything happens at Red Bull. That even with Marko saying even if they did want him, they couldn’t match the Audi offer.

I don’t think Merc have any reason to rush. Publicly, at least, they are going all out for Verstappen and the success of that, I think, is intertwined with Neweys decisions and what’s happening with their engine project.

Would be funny if RB snatchs Antonelli later in the case of Verstappen leaving

Max is not going anywhere for at least 5 years ahead. Just like Ham in the early days with mercedes.

F1 is 80% car. If Newey was the key Max may try to follow him if possible. I suspect Newey will make a decision and that’ll make the rest of the dominoes fall.

I’m convinced Max will leave F1 within 3 years, due to boredom and wanting to try endurance racing.
