2024 Formula 1 Season Discussion

…. and focus on his serious racing in sims. F1 is his hobby

I wonder if that’s what it’s like for him…, (max jonesing to get home to hop in sim).

Wellll now it’s pretty much official Newey is out :eyes:

Start busy news searching, definitely further rumour but I can’t find any definitive comment.

Chances are they wont announce anything until after the Senna anniversary though.

I’d be incredibly surprised if Max’s contract didn’t have a clause that allowed him to leave in the event of team leadership changing.

I am just perplexed by his (or anyone’s) reverence for Marko.

If I recall correctly Marko helped Verstappen a lot, kinda like Ocon with his “fairy grandparent”

Of course….he helped many careers. But I just don’t get the enamoration with him.

Hate to use Wiki as a source, but it’s as non-political subject so

“At the Targa Florio he drove the fastest laps around the 72 km Sicilian mountain circuit in the 1972 race, catching up over two minutes on the leader within two laps to finish second by a mere 17 seconds. His fastest lap in the [Alfa Romeo 33]”

He is a badass.

Also, there’s obviously something whereby Marko has demonstrated loyalty and faith in Max despite some form of pressure (I suspect Barca 2016), hence the reciprocated loyalty.

Place your bets ppl. Which team he will end up?:rofl::rofl: Mercedes, ferrari or aston? Or else?

I hope this rumor is true

If audi were smart, they’d be digging deep into the VW wallet. Still have time for some Newey impact ln their first car.

Sounds like Adrian is meeting with Ferrari and is seriously interested in joining the team. No interest in going to Aston it sounds like.

I wonder if its the Hamilton factor there. He’s rejected massive money from Ferarri in the past.

Yacht racing?

A different fluid challenge.

So he leaves Red Bull in Q1 2025. Does that mean he has gardening leave after that or can he straight go join a team? Could make 2026 more interesting with the timing.

I imagine non-competes in this tiny little industry are not common?

Apparently he is fulfilling his Red Bull contract by working on the RB17 supercar and not in F1, so there is no gardening leave and then he is free to begin with a new team in 2025.

Most technical positions in F1 have “gardening leave” allowances in the contracts. Basically a non-compete for a set amount of time to limit technical data transfer to the new team.

Newey being out of the F1 team but still working on the Red Bull production car fulfills the “not working in F1 for X amount of time” in this case.

He’s got out of non competes before (everytime actually) through some technicality. Williams was letting Hill leave without discussing it with him (his contract had him involved in driver decisions) and I can’t remember what the McLaren reason was.

Vasseur went to London instead of Miami yesterday was what I read. :eyes:
