Absolutely love that red bull has dropped to the point of zip cutting their rear wings to reduce drag. It’ll be interesting to see how it works.
Anyone actually staying up to watch this crazy (for me) morning race?
I plan on trying… but the kids are at Nana’s tonight so I may take advantage of the available sleep time.
I’ll have to see how my energy levels are if I want to stay up for the race.
That said, these folks have me beat for staying up late.
Im gonna give it a shot. Race starts 1am for me.
Not a Max fan but awesome achievement, four in a row! Merc certainly had the upper hand today, just wish there could have been a fight between George and Lewis. Sainz being a bit crafty letting Max stay in drs range so that Leclerc was compromised. Sorry to see my guy Gasly dropout after his strong qualy.
Vegas event certainly is giving us a lot overtaking which is very welcome in F1 these days.
About time…

Without Andretti name feels a bit corporate meh
I believe that’s the point. F1 wants OEMs, not necessarily “race” teams. They basically stated as much when they denied Andretti’s entry. I think they (and fans) have trouble viewing Haas as the “American” team so F1 pushed for a full American manufacturer commitment from GM. As I understand it, Andretti is still a partner in the F1 venture, now that he has a position on the GM board.
I get that, but I think long-term it’s narratively weaker. They’ve got what they wanted of course, but it’s a bit boring. We’d rather have Andretti on the pit wall instead of some bland corporate fella.
GM whatever. If it was Corvette instead of Cadillac it would at least make more sense to me.
I guess that’s because the Cadillac team in WEC
At least Mario Andretti will be team director.
Worst case scenario Cadillac sells to a chinese brand, though funnily enough my friend bet Andretti and GM would have parted ways in a bad manner eventually.
Cadillac competes much more in the European space and has a pretty storied racing history. Direct competitors to Audi and Mercedes. They are also the “tech focused” brand of GM so it all makes sense to me.
I hope they name the car something cool instead of just a model code. They’ve been pushing that again on their road cars.
Could you imagine if it was Cadillac Eldorado-V F1 car.
Anything besides a CT or XT or whatever their current naming scheme is. It will probably be the FT-something for Formula 1.
To be fair their sporty sedans have been as good as any Euro car lately.
They’re dropping all the alpha numerics and going back with names like the Lyriq, Celestiq, and Optiq for their models.
All the F1 car names are so boring since they’re just number codes.
It would be kind of cool to call it the Blackwing GP or something.
I don’t have much faith. Their most recent racecar is called “V-Series.R”
Okay this made me chuckle….
Logan Sargeant would be back in F1.
