2024 Formula 1 Season Discussion

Not a bad session for Bearman given the circumstances. He should be able to be top 10 in the race if he continues like this.

Bearman missing Q3 by .036s is very impressive given he’s been in the car all of 1.5 hrs

Definitely an impressive run by Ollie. I just hope that its not like Days of Thunder where hes fast in quali but cant race

I’m only just watching it, but I’d watch a camera of Bearmans dad, the guys facial expressions are great. Very much a dad watching his son live his dream and stressing out about it.

In my karting buddies group chat we noted how Ollie’s dad was making the same faces our own dads make on the fence when we race.

I’m the eternal Haas optimist but I am very interested to see if Hulk can come forward tomorrow and if KMag can trouble the points. It sounds like they trimmed the car down for quali and were pleasantly surprised at their pace. They seemed satisfied with the long run pace too. KMag noted they were struggling with tire warm up which was the opposite problem they had last year, so that’s cool.

Max seems unstoppable but I think Alonso fancies his chances in the race for a podium. With Sainz out of the question that opens the door.

This is wild really. I know he probably has to stay up late due to circadian rhythm type stuff, with an 8pm race and allthat, but still…on iRacing until 4am on the night before a Grand Prix. This is while all the madness going on at his team.

Bearman’s gap to Leclerc is nothing to be ashamed of. With 1 hour in the car before qualifying it was a great effort.

Overall mega job from bearman, great defending from Lewis and especially Kmag to build up a CSX train behind and allow Nico that Pit.

KMag defending for Nico’s life was fun to watch. Brilliant teamwork there to snag a point after KMag ruined his race with two errors. Would’ve loved to be in parc ferme to hear the thoughts of everyone behind him…

My exact thought. His face looks like I feel on every single race start I watch my nearly grown kid do.

Hey Ho! Moar Dramas!

I saw a chart somewhere that compared their laptimes and he gradually, throughout the race closed, on Leclerc (in terms of lap times), other then Leclerc’s fastest lap near the end. That, and his ability to manage the tires throughout the race, and his feistiness in the first few laps impressed me.

I think unless he really screws up the F2 season, he’s very likely in Magnusson’s seat next year.

I read something today he will in all probability go to Hulk’s seat alongside Kmag. Hulk’s move to Sauber AKA Audi for 25 is all but a done deal.

Hulk and Sainz, that’s tasty.

Big assumption that Sainz is looking for a long contract in preparation for Audi’s entry and given his relationship with Seidl and his father’s relationship with VW Group (owners of Audi).

Albon being given Logans car :man_shrugging: Can’t believe Williams sometimes, how do you not have a spare chassis or whatever was they needed. I’m a big Williams fan but this is nuts.

Did you see this video from The Race? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WazUi6K4W6w

I can totally understand why Williams doesn’t have a spare car after seeing that. The team was being run like a team from the 90s in some areas. I think Vowles is doing a good job identifying weaknesses and seeing the big picture and being realistic and patient.

Giving Logan’s car to Alex is brutal. I feel for Logan. But as Haas noted after Jeddah, the top 5 teams are very close, so scoring those minor points is going to be super critical every weekend and if they think Albon is the best shot at eeking out a point, I guess they have to do what they have to do. In Logan’s shoes, warranted or not, it must feel terrible knowing who the team favors so early in the season.

I see a lot of people criticizing Williams’ use of spreadsheets instead of some sort of ERP… but to me the fact they managed to survive is kinda a testament to them too.

That said, they’ve had a bunch of technology partners… I’m surprised that leveraging enterprise tech wasn’t part of the deal…

Or maybe it was part of the deals and the team weren’t able to adopt it.

Anyway, it’s interesting.

Stroll got more points than Hamilton.:rofl::rofl:
