Chasing info or opinion on amv alutech 6f wheel. Cheers
I will chime in with this link from another thread:
I now see the 6F alutech wheels are not in that link and see that i provided no value.
I am sorry, but I don’t know what AluTech is. If it is the same as Light Tech, it is the tech that is used on Puma. A special very light weight aluminum (slightly heavier than magnesium). It heats up faster and is great for colder days, qualifying and even heat races.
It offers more grip.
Are AMV rims standard on Kart Republics? I see a lot of people run them. I’m currently on the standard black rims that come with the Parolin (magnesium?) Not even really sure what they are. What kind of difference do you think they’d make?
Yes they are the standard wheel for Kart Republic.
AMV has a full range of wheels for different conditions, so it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. Personally I use the 3F wheels for my standard wheel and the 9F as my go-to when it’s hot or really grippy.
Cheers guys.
I did have a read of that thread previously.
I race at some tracks that grip build up is minimal and then some tracks where there’s more rubber down than you’ve ever seen haha.
Looking into Tiger wheels for the lower grip tracks but I keep finishing conflicting info online… does this sound right?
Puma or Tiger for lower grip. We ran the Puma in Vegas and it worked great on the low grip parking lot track for the first couple days. However it started to overheat once a little rubber got put down and temps warmed up.
If it’s colder temps the Puma is great, otherwise the Tiger is a good standard set for low grip too.
Thanks for sharing the experience.
I just tried to buy the two sets of rims.
Do they even make the tiger rims in the KR 69mm pcd? - Same goes for the 9f?
Kr 69mm PCD
- Tiger yes
- 9F no-
- Lynx yes-
You must by KR wheels from a KR dealer. They were the only ones who can get them.
Will AMV rims fit on the hubs that come with my Parolin?
Are the new Alutech KR wheels the same as the Lighttech amv wheels?
I suppose the material is the same but the design is different.
The Puma which is LightTech is a spoked wheel, the same design as the Lynx. The AluTech appears to be non-spoke and closer in design to the slotted “6F”
I see there are AMV 3F KR (6 hole) specific rims and then standard AMV 3F’s with just the 3 holes and 58 PCD, are the latter the ones you use on your OTK? I’ve got a Parolin and am considering the standard 3F’s because they fit my hubs. Either them or MXC’s.
Yup standard 3Fs work fine on the OTK.
