Custom Racing suits for karting: anyone here repping/distributor?

Don’t think it is wrong. You must use equipment with that homologation for FIA events

Here’s the technical regulations for 2024, assume they won’t change for 2025.

7.2 Overalls
Fabric overalls must have either: i) a «Level 2» CIK-FIA
homologation granted according to CIK-FIA Standard 2013-1 or
ii) be Grade 1 or Grade 2 Karting Overalls complying with FIA
Standard 8877-2022.
See www.fiakarting.com for the complete lists of homologated
overalls.
Leather overalls complying with the Standards defined by the FIM
are allowed. For competitions on long circuits, leather overalls
complying with the FIM standards (motorbikes, 1.2 mm thickness)
or Grade 2 Karting Overalls complying with FIA Standard 8877-
2022 are mandatory.

NOTE
Current FIA-homologated overalls (Standard CIK-FIA N2013-1)
are accepted during their useful life, which is indicated on the
label of the overalls, but not beyond 31.12.2029.
Karting overalls complying with FIA Standard 8877-2022 are
mandatory from 01.01.2030.

I’ll call our supplier today but the below is pretty clear I think :

Effective January 1, 2025, all participants in FIA Championships, Cups and Trophies must use karting shoes and karting gloves approved according to this 8877-2022 FIA Standard. This requirement extends to all karting competitions listed on the international sporting calendar, ensuring a consistent safety level across karting.

I’ve quoted the Technical Regulation and provided the link to it. I really don’t know how it could be anymore clear.

Is the FIA involved in all aspects of karting in Europe? I looked on their website and there was only a handful of events. Are Rok, Rotax, WSK, etc events held in Europe bound by the FIA as well?

FIA rules applies all the time for official events.
Some of the indipendent organizations like WSK, CSAI and other national organizations might have their own rules for class structure but tech is often the same as FIA.

Nik, just to confirm that for FIA events drivers MUST have 8877-2022 homologation.

Non-FIA events usually use the FIA technical rule book anyway.

Hi Andrea,

Please quote the technical regulation as I have done. Hear say doesn’t help anyone.

FIA haven’t released the Technical Regulations for 2025 yet. But as I quoted from the regulations in a previous post the 2024 regulations state:

“NOTE
Current FIA-homologated overalls (Standard CIK-FIA N2013-1)
are accepted during their useful life, which is indicated on the
label of the overalls, but not beyond 31.12.2029.
Karting overalls complying with FIA Standard 8877-2022 are
mandatory from 01.01.2030.”

Also this matters not one bit to my karting experience because I’m in North America and it seems no one cares about suit standards at all here.

here you go :
2025 rules book
MIR, our suppplier, is not in the list for the moment as the regulation were not clear also for the manufacturing company. They are rushing to get an homologation by March 2025.

That’s not the FIA rules book. That is the list of homologated materials from the Italian ASN.

Now the Italian (lucky I can read that) does state what you’ve said for FIA Karting Titled races. For me that means if its an FIA Karting race in Italy run under ASI’s regulations then you must have that homologated suit/boots/gloves.

But that doesn’t mean that all FIA Karting events run by FIA (or their promoter) are under those regulations.

I’m surprised the Italian ASN chose to be so strict and not leave the old homologation in play for a few years.

Can we call it a draw and can you go poke the Spaniards and ask them to sew faster, please?

Shipping Feb 3rd, should be with you that week.

They are applying FIA rules for international events

They are nice shoes. I am happy.

The toe box is a bit narrower than Astar. But not super narrow like the Freem.

The shoes are very comfy and have great feel. I like them for regular driving too.

The lace system is cute but meh. It doesn’t get very tight or loose but that doesn’t seem to matter.

I would buy again but at this price I will try other ultra premium ones first.
