Custom Racing suits for karting: anyone here repping/distributor?

I did a couple paint splattered dye-sub suits for myself back in the day when the Oktane branding was more paint splatter based.

Very cool and thanks for sharing

I am thinking that I will eschew this current trend and instead focus on contrasting fields of color.

However, I was also considering a very graphical sort of punk rock photocopier zine aesthetic as well.

There are many possibilities. I do like the current Oktane colors and look. Regal but sporty. Purple/Violet.

Do I dare sport a baby pink race suit? I will be noticed, that’s for sure.

This will never work but hey:

But would it be wrong to have a suit with a picture of an older suit on it? We must always strive for the future.

It’s a pity I wasn’t really able to make a living messing about with design stuff. It’s pretty entertaining. Well, at least banking has karting hours.

I think (at least for me) a Tron-based style would be cool for suit, helmet and kart graphics. Something that has a kind of luminescent outline. Probably green since I’m from :ireland:

The movie inspired a whole lot of cool design.

I’ve always thought a suit or kart livery designed based on the auto industry’s “camo” wraps they use on pre-production cars would be sick!

But you might get accidentally punted!

Found this. Close.

Apologies for bewbs

Hey that’s a good idea.

Black light karting would be cool and you could really Tron it up.

Actually, one could go “naughty”…

I’m thinking maybe some sort of sexy kitty

All dressed up and ready to throw the cat

Or just go full pinup and call it a day:

Random Maisie Homage

"I grow old … I grow old …
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me."

@dcorcoran did a dazzle camo wrap based on Red Bull’s testing livery a few years ago.

I did a Tron-inspired one for a customer a few years ago as well. All black/grey with neon outlines.

Pics of tron helmet?

Decal kit, not helmet. I don’t have pics.

But the helmet I just finished had some neon effect on it.

I was very close to getting a Yoyodyne wrap for my trailer.

It is odd how Yoyodyne has shown up IRL in so many places. I guess scriptwriters are Pynchon fans.

@KartingIsLife Did you see Smoke’s new helmet??

I cant find the in-car pic but it is really cool. Definitely gives those Tron vibes.

@tjkoyen have you worked with any electroluminescent paint?

I haven’t. Every time Polen posts a Lumilor helmet I get a bunch of requests, but it’s expensive. Crazy cool look though.

That would definitely be the limiting factor for us common folks $$$$$

Are the Alpinestars shoes good? I’m very close to buying a pair from them and gloves to match.

Specifically these, which SKUSA just shared on their social media as well.

I looked at those but I have no Asian connection so I could not make a use case for those bad boys.

To me it’s a bit confusing in that there appears to be a rising Sun (Japan) but also has prominent dragons (China). If I had to guess, it must have something to do with a China racing event.

Personally I do like alpinestars a lot. The fit is very good for my tootsies.

The ones you are showing are a special edition of their highest end shoes. I believe those are in the $250 range. I ordered the slightly less fancy $185 ones which will be an upgrade from my previous cheaper synthetic alpinestars.

(I stand corrected: $210)

Best to last:

TECH-1 KZ V2 SHOES $289.95

2022 TECH-1 KZ SHOES $209.95

TECH-1 KX V2 SHOES $189.95

TECH-1 KZ SHOES from $179.96

2022 TECH-1 K V2 SHOES $159.95

Their line is large and confusing.

Do you hand paint the lettering? Like the driver name and oktane
