Dellorto VHSB ND39

Anyone here tried a Delllorto VHSB ND39 on a TM KZR2 for open class ?

This carb was excellent on the TM KKV95…
Also used on open CR125 engines… along with Mikuni and Krishna 38mm carbs…

The Tm es rubber boot will fit the 39mm carb and airbox, but it narrows down a bit snd may be too much restriction…. I believe the ES boot/manifold was made for a 34mm Dellorto…
Thanks,
Bill

Would that be more suitable to long circuit racing/top end power? I know we run no rules and everyone still uses the 30mm. The long circuit lads do run the 38mm.

It will be interesting to find your outcomes. If needed if you run a mychron I can print off a dyno graph from each of your runs to have some actual data to compare both setups.

Long track for sure……presently running at 103rd st track in Jacksonville Fl….
4th gear sweeper onto a 1000 ft straight , so , faster than most sprint tracks.

19/23 gear… a little over 100mph…. If I get the sweeper tigh

I’m currently moving from a long circuit Stock Honda (CR125) to 125 Open and building a new kart on a stock KZ chassis (I may go down the path of a new long/road circuit chassis, but that’s for another day). I’m using a new TM R2 with a 39 mm Dellarto and a fully programmable CDI ignition with a big spark (I believe it’s an Anderson). Main jet sizes in this configuration typical run between 220 and 230 (so this needs a big spark to burn that fuel). Interestingly, there is no return fuel line. Image below (getting my superkart seat fitted). Getting close on the build and was hoping to run it for the first time this weekend. Alas, not quite there. I believe the standard TM intake is not quite the right size, so a specially fabricated boot/intake was required (but as far as I understand the reed cage is stock). If you want any details on this aspect, let me know and I’ll speak with my engine builder. I’ll post progress separately (rather hoping I don’t blow it up on the first run - a bit nervous, it should hit close to 200 km/h or 124 mph coming into T1 at Phillip Island; in contrast my Stock Honda peaks at 180 km/h and it’s flat through the corner, you just have to pucker up and hang on).

That’s interesting to me. It looks like the chain is beefier and shorter than I’m used to seeing. Is that an illusion because of the small rear sprocket or is the chain a different gauge?

No, just a standard KZ 428 chain. From memory, the engine sprocket is BIG. I’ll confirm later.

Just to follow up on sprocket sizes - 22t front/engine and 21t rear/axle when running at say Phillip Island.

That’s a really tall gear… you have a monster engine to pull that….probaby 19/21 is about it
For KZ sprint kart…. Don’t know about a laydown or 125 Superkart

I’m really interested in a properly sized intake/boot…. If your guy could produce another.
please let me know…

Noted Bill. I’m seeing the engine builder tomorrow and will be back in touch. Tom

Thanks Tom….appreciate it !

For your info : Brian Wilhelm of Wilhelm motorsports modified a VHSB ND 39 for me… it installed a manually adjustable power jet…
Better fuel supply for long tracks, and never have to change a main jet once it’s set up…

He’s using it to do 161mph at Daytona with a 250cc single….he’s supplied them to other guys running Pavesi 125cc engines ….very successful

Cheers ,
Bill

Is this the adjustable jet?

No, that is a different product….

Wilhelm ADDs a powerjet ….especially good for long wide open throttle …: I’ll post a pic here if I can figure out how to do it….
