I suppose after so many years of being at the top level of F1 it is hard for him to get fired up. However he should just hang it up if he can’t get motivated and I am a Hamilton supporter.
I totally agree about Rosberg, he is cringeworthy! However I disagree with the British bias, you are listening to a British broadcast so you expect a little excitement towards the British drivers. Get some top level Americans in there and they will get credit when it’s due.
The issue is Sky is sold around the world. So it’s bias can be jarring for non-UK people
I completely disagree about Roseberg, he’s given the best commentary and insight of anyone. It’s very unorthodox, but his unfiltered comments are informative and entertaining. He seems more unbiased than anyone else out there
@E13 hell ya. Nico is the only one who has the balls to push back when Croft is talking complete bollocks. Croft will latch onto a strategy idea or a rule change idea he has and then keep bringing it up even after more knowledgeable commentators or Bernie have pointed out why it’s stupid. He just won’t drop it unless Nico shuts him down with a hard “no.”
Sometimes Rosberg can be stubborn and a bit combative but I think overall he’s pretty fair. I just don’t like his constant hyperbolic way of speaking though. Everything is “oh that’s REALLY bad” or “he missed the apex by MILES”.
It is nice to have someone to call out BS though when they see it.
Ya you’re right @tjkoyen he is a bit dramatic.
I think from the view of a former driver, these small things are egregious.
Like a small mistake for me skiing is nothing, but to a ski racer a tiny slide or edge catch is egregious, even if it doesn’t look like it to the untrained eye.
I just cant stand his voice and manner of speaking. It annoys me. Didn’t like him when he drove either.
The British bias is a bit much for a supposed international production. When ESPN took over in the US we began getting the Sky Feed and commentary. Prior to that we has David Hobbs, Leigh Diffey, Steve Matchett, and Will Buxton and it was far better. Early in Hamilton’s career Hobb’s could be quite unfairly harsh on him, but since the change the I find myself annoyed at the constant blathering on Russel and Hamilton. Piastri, Norris, Verstappen, and Leclerc are all the wrong nationality to get equal and fair coverage.
Crofty is a doofus sometimes. Agree totally. Personally preferred the old US commentary team of Hobbs, Matchett, Diffey, and Buxton.
I still have the F1TV subscription so I don’t watch the Sky commentary. I have the option to, but I prefer the other commentary crew.
I don’t want to hijack the F1 thread. I would argue that TSRS is the premier regional series in the country for KA100. It is strong for 206Sr, but CKNA is so huge that it has to be the best field of 206 around. Typical field sizes for KA are 40-50 karts. In KA 14 of the SKUSA Pro Tour KA100 and 6 of the Pro X30 drivers have made races this year. I only saw about 6 names from the Stars Tour that we have run with. 11 names from USPKS points roster have run with us. 2nd and 4th from Supernats 27 were at Amarillo this weekend and 8 of the finals entrants have run TSRS with us.
If you can run top 10 at TSRS events you can show up and at least be competitive at a national level event. This is far far from where we were this weekend
Norris is British…
Let’s be real, most of them are monegasque once they get to F1.
Doh…he is. That’s embarrassing. He gets some love, but nothing like the fawning over Hamilton and Russel. I don’t understand the bent for those two.
Crofty is a doofus sometimes. Agree totally. Personally preferred the old US commentary team of Hobbs, Matchett, Diffey, and Buxton.
I agree with you there aside from Diffey who I can’t stand, have to put up with him commentating on Supercross sometimes too!
I thought Hinchcliffe was supposed to be doing some of the commentary this year.
So a few thoughts :
So Stroll will be racing in Canada …
Incredible what we can do now, such a fast recovery despite so much suffering LOL
Bro and his father preferred to screw over Aston Martin and not having the 2nd car race in Catalunya so Drugovich doesn’t get the spotlight. Prolly the only team you cannot cheer for in F1, and that is coming from an Alonso fan.
Colapinto’s seat clearly in danger. Yeah you can look like Senna and mingle with MILFs, that won’t get you a seat in F1. You need to perform, especially with Briatore being the boss.
It is probably Gasly last season. Alpine is going to get 2 paying drivers (Perez and Colapinto if he finally performs) in order to make it attractive to potential buyers. Simplified infras, income from drivers sponsors, all of that points to Alpine being for sale.
Still haven’t heard from Cadillac drivers lineup. Clearly they want Perez because of money and EXP, but I don’t see who can be their plan B in case he gets snatched by Alpine.
Lance bins it on his out lap 7 minutes into FP2. Well done hometown hero!
Bit of a surprise with Rus getting pole. Albons bodywork flying off was crazy!
Max to be leading end of lap one, Alonso passing Hamilton on first lap also.
Very entertaining race so far in Canada. I’m on lap 30 something but have to go out to run some errands. Russell is doing a really good job to hold off Verstappen. What actually impresses me more than anything is how good Fernando Alonso is at his age.
Seeing him and then seeing Antonelli is wild. Antonelli looks like he just graduated middle school. I’m really curious what role age actually plays in the sport and would be very curious to see a long term sports study on the topic.
Makes me wonder how Alonso would do if you put them all in the #1 car on the grid, gave them ample time to adjust to it on the same day, and had everyone do a time attack style shootout on fresh rubber.
Who do you guys think is the fastest driver for 1 flying lap if they were all in the same car? Max?
