Formula 1 - 2025 Season Discussion

What a tense final stint and it did finally boil over! HUGE stuff there, the converging strategies made it all come together.

Lando just misjudged that. Oscar held his line. But very commendable for Lando to immediately come on the radio and take full responsibility.

Pretty nuts that Yuki, Carlos, Gasly, and Ocon went over 50 laps on their starting tires. Nice to see Carlos rewarded with a point for that.

I thought it was pretty weak when George looked in his mirror for Max and then slammed the brakes and immediately got on the radio to tattle.

Completely unnecessary and if he gets a penalty or loses the win because of that, he’s going to look like a massive idiot. He was so good all day and drove a great race. Didn’t need to play games.

Really weird. Like why? Dude you’ve won the race just bring it home at safety car pace. Nothing to gain with getting Max a penalty.

Maybe that kind of infraction is a penalty point and he was trying to get Max that race ban?

Russell seems like a real rich kid dick head some times.

Yeah I’m guessing it was a bit of that and a bit of just having personal beef with Max.

I was imagining alot more fireworks into Turn 1. George had such a good launch it was just zero contest going into it.

Same! On the formation lap I texted my buddies “what are the odds Max and George touch in turn 1?”

Looks like Red Bull lost the protest and George keeps the win.

nah, always a need. Gets the people going, it’s provocative.

I’ve been looking at onboards of Norris’ crash, and I still can’t believe how he misjudged that. There wasn’t even half a car’s width between Piastri and the grass and barely a car’s width between Piastri and the wall. There were still a few laps to go and he could even set up a T1 move by going on the outside line, why did he throw it all away there? Instead of dropping 2 points to Oscar he dropped 12, he is now 22pts behind in the championship.

Even though he has regularly had better pace than Oscar in both qualifying and races, he keeps making unforced errors and that will cost him the title in the long run. In equal cars I really doubt he would even be top 5 in the championship.

I don’t think Norris quite expected the closing rate. Once he did there was no gap

Nicely controlled race by George yesterday. Thought Max would of had something for him but it was not to be. Norris, what can you say! Should have bided his time a little more and shown some patience but of course it’s easy to sit here and say that. Another good performance from Hulk. Alpine, oh dear!!!
Imho opinion Aston would benefit from two new drivers although Alonso did much better this weekend.

@kartingpro ya I couldn’t believe he went for that. So disappointing. I thought he had the pace to get a clean overtake.

@KartingIsLife maybe you’re right.

Norris is not good enough mentally to challenge Max and Oscar for the WDC.

He fumbles qualifications, do stupid mistakes under pressure. It is a shame because he clearly has the speed.

Good race from the Mercs, good job Antonelli !

Antonelli handled the pressure very well.

Apparently there are no Arai helmets in the F1 paddock anymore. Yuki switched to Schubert this weekend

Surprising to see Yuki switch. Unfortunately Arai dropped the ball a bit on the last homologation, not having things ready to supply everyone. They also don’t like giving stuff away for free, whereas Bell and Stilo will throw several helmets a year at F1 drivers.

I’m still an Arai guy through and through.

McLaren showed they were favoring Lando. Since when do you gaslight Piastri into believing his mediums are fine, making lose time over Lando and pit him 4 laps after Lando ? Just so Lando as a buffer and won’t suffer of the pressure ?

Piastri should have dealt with Norris in the first stint.

WDC fight is very much between the two McLaren drivers now. I don’t think anyone can catch them now.

Terrific defense from Lando. He was able to get good exits even after Piastri forced him to defend inside. Every time that happened I was sure he was gonna spin the rears, but he just hooked it up and drove out. Didn’t make mistakes. Tremendous!

What the hell was Colapinto doing running Oscar off the track? Surely you can’t blame the pitwall for that one, right?

Awesome battle in the first stint between the McLarens. Loved seeing Piastri immediately pile pressure on and Norris immediately start defense. They both just pushed each other hard and drove off from the field.

To really win, Piastri should’ve tried the undercut. But I imagine like most teams, that wouldn’t be possible as they give strat priority to the lead car. So they either try to overcut which wasn’t going to work or offset the tire change a bit, which they did. It almost worked. A couple more laps, maybe even one more, is all Oscar needed to get into Lando’s DRS again at the end. But with the lap traffic tripping up Oscar a bit there he lost just a few tenths he needed.
