How do you think of Electric gokart for 2025?

Remember the OP came here asking for feedback. These are the concerns I would need to see addressed before I would consider buying in. I’m not against electric or Tillotson but there would need be a well defined advantage to entice me to make the change. I’m sure a lot of people are like me and need to stretch their dollar a long way. I would need to know that the product I buy would still viable in 2-3 years.

Hi James, yep, We will have the plastic protection around the kart and cover the motor and stuff.

For now we insist the same chassis. Do you think a smaller chassis is better for rental places?

For one kart like the image and video, we now quote for USD 5K-7K.

We provide 24-month to 12-month warranty according to the efficiency and number of cycles of the battery.

Thank you Dom, you have given a lot of info to us.The SuperEgo in the video is designed more for performance enthusiasts and potentially racing, so it’s built lighter and more agile, like a typical race kart.

And you’re right to bring up the protective wraparounds – that’s a crucial point for rental karts! We have attended several expos in the EU and soon will go to Russia, Germany, Colombia. The visitors also gave the suggestion and we are designing 2 more type of full covered rental kart based on our chassis, I will show here later. The material is PE and PP.
The grass weight would be around 160kg (352 lbs) and the kart without cover and wraparounds is 110kg (242.5 lbs).

A thought…. Though I am not mechanically inclined, even a Luddite such as myself can tell that the diameter of the tubing on the heavier rental karts is considerably larger than in my comp kart racing kart. I would assume that is due to the greater weight from all the protection and the need to have the kart survive being driven straight into walls, over and over again. :grinning:

Chuck I see your memeing and raise you a PeeWee…

For a complete kart? That seems very low, but I don’t have any experience with buying a rental fleet.

Yeah that seems low…. But that’s without all the safety engineering. I think the new sodis are somewhere in the 8-10k range.

One other thing, should your business succeed and you decide to introduce a sister model to the SuperEgo, may I suggest naming it the “ID”? :grinning: Freudian karting!

Ohahaha~ ID,EGO,SUPEREGO, Never thought about it. That’s brilliant! :joy: , appreciate the creative name suggestion and the psychology humor! I see what you did there! We’ll definitely keep “ID” in mind for future brainstorming sessions!

If it includes the wraparounds, will it better? :sunglasses:

Exactly, for complete kart, unbox, assemble wheels, bumpers, plug in, put on helmet yourself and you can drive. :sunglasses:

Well objectively wraparounds make the kart worse. But, there’s plenty of evidence that shows that inexperienced thrill seekers absolutely need them.

On the flip side (pun intended)… experienced racers can have so much fun racing aggressively without worrying about touching wheels. Rubbing is racing in rentals, if folks have the skills to play rough together.

Thought I would add this The F.A.T. Electric League is going to be at alot of tracks . For a arrive and drive for kids under 18 years old. For a chance to win a full ride to F4. And Blue Shock Racing is going to alot of tracks in 2025. Check There websites out. I think alot of people want to do arrive and drive and not buy a kart and all the stuff to compete. And keep adding money to keep at a high level. And there are alot of people I have found that just want to use karting as a way to Cars. And not spend all that money if there not going to be in karting that long. And Electric Karts are a great answer to that. Its a very equal competition series and taking out who has the most money to run deal out of it… So hope people go out and try this different kind of karting…

Hey, that is perfect for me !

Should be a masters class…

While everybody goes back and forth with the electric thing. Which is great. I think electric is a great thing for newcomers and kids who want to do more than just karting. Remember alot come from rental places that are electric and are familiar with that. And are using karting to learn race kraft to move up… I know alot of the people and kids . In Fact my grandkids run with alot of kids and adults go why should I invest alot in karting when the goal is Cars. And saving the money for that… Looks like electric kart manufacturers are targeting that market too. So alot of different reasons for electric… And a even playing field is one that alot look at too. Looks like alot of manufactures are jumping in. Must be something there. As far as from a Engineering point the companys have to get out there and promote there product and see what people think to make things better. And its a hard market to crack so they have to be aggressive and defend there product… Anyways great discussion of what people think…

Is this the series you refer to?

I think I read something about this.

“Co-founded by Formula 1 engineer Rob Smedley and FAT International founder Ferdi Porsche”

Any idea how pricing works?

We have to accept this is part of the karting ecosystem, but these things all SHRINK the karting industry, not grow it. People not investing money into equipment hurts the entire economy of karting and people trying to get to F4 as quickly as possible reduces long-term karters who are in the sport for the love of it. Programs that promote these scholarships are actively trying to remove participants from karting and take money away from kart shops, teams, or anyone else involved in selling kart related stuff.

To be clear, that isn’t necessarily wrong. Everyone has a different goal with karting and everyone is allowed to do whatever they want and make their experience what they want. And companies promoting these types of programs are totally allowed to do so, there’s no issue with that. But it certainly isn’t helping to grow the sport of karting.

Just giving info what opportunities are out there for everyone… I think if you look alot of motorsports F1 / Road Race / Etc, Thats how alot of prodrivers have come up thru the ranks… Thru Karting … And alot are coming back to it when they retire… Thats good for the sport and grows it !!! When I was racing in the karting in the 70s. It was that way and looks like thats happening again… And ones who cant afford big rides stay in it. Or the kids of pro drivers start in it… And move forward… Gas and Electric in both versions is trying to help the sport grow… And NO programs are not trying to remove people from karting its just another avenue to move ahead in motorsports. But in the end its just a opinion of different views on the subject…Which is great talk…
