@Stamatis125 I thought of you this am as I was pondering @tjkoyen’s French-ness.

In the states, we had waves of immigration that sort of defined the populations of certain areas. The Midwest, for example, is known for having been settled by Nordic folk (thus the blonde midwestern ladies, I think. The expression the Great White Way I believe refers to times square in the bad old days when it was all porno and prostitution. The prostitiues were blondes mostly and midwestern transplants, or so legend has it).

French, however, seems to have been mostly a northeast/southeast thing. We had the French up in Canada and also the French came and fought with us in the NE. So, you do get French heritage in the NE. Vermont, for example, has French rural families that have been there forever.

Which made me wonder about Tjs ethnic heritage. I wonder what frenchness made it to Indiana/Ohio etc.

Anyways, in a long winded and roundabout way, this made me think of the movie, Breaking Away. This is a film from 1979 about bike racing, not karting, but spiritually the same animal. It takes place not far from New Castle and the like!

Enjoy.

Funny enough, when my son isn’t listening, I call him “Felini” because it isn’t his name, just like the cat. The main character is based on a guy the writer grew up with and there are a few pro-cyclists in the movie from Eddy Merckx’s days.

This movie, perhaps, it what spawned my desire to learn Italian… I saw it before I knew of Tonykarts…

It also shows some classic campagnolo gear, etc… Cutters FTW! (I think that means something else to today’s generation, tho.)

This movie is what spawned my desire to use a bike pump as a mobile wheel sabotage unit.

He was so heartbroken when his heros turned out to be assholes. I imagine it would have been the same with Ferrari. Zing!

I’m not French, I have almost exclusively Danish and German heritage. Koyen is a Danish name. Lots of Scandanavian too. I just chose French to study in high school.

But we did get a lot of French influence here in Wisconsin too as French explorers and missionaries were some of the first Europeans here. Lots of French town names like Fond du Lac, Prairie du Chien, Prairie du Sac. Wisconsin does have a very strong German heritage though, hence being the beer brewing (and consuming) capital of the country.

Oh god my garage is a disaster. Trust me you dont want to stay there!

I think that in good conscience, I just agree with @3LG8 and steer you clear of NJ. It’s crowded, expensive, unreasonable, and sometimes smells like farts.

Perhaps we can use this to open the forum to the question:

What would be the ideal state for @Stamatis125 to move to in which he can:

a) Be a cowboy
b) Impersonate Burt Reynolds
c) Kart every day
d) 'Merica?

Let us know your thoughts…

I’d say Texas seems like it has potential but it’s too hot and arid as compared to places like Utah and Colorado.

Florida is great for karting but no cowboys. Bonus for Norberg.

Montana/Dakotas is right out unless you can afford to build your own facility. If you happen to be a secret billionaire, let’s talk about how I can help you spend your money.on a private facility.

Paging @jd896 where in your travels thus far has been the most kart friendly yet classically western/southern American state?

The south would be great except its a karting black hole for some reason. I mean unless you live next to Trackhouse or AMP and thats not exactly Yee-Haw country.

Utah is stunning but no idea if karting is stronk there. New Mexico is the gorgeous neighbor of TX, but also prbs not a karting place

Food is also a consideration. It matters.

Arizona or SoCal if not TX….

Socal would be hard to beat. So freaking expensive tho.

NC has bona fide cowboys, and there’s a rodeo in my local small town. I’m also 1 hr. from Trackhouse Motorplex and 3 hrs. from CMP. He may be considered odd if he doesn’t impersonate Burt Reynolds here, but finding a ‘78 Trans-Am in good condition may be challenging. So, I’d have to say we have a good case.

If he can’t find that Trans-Am, there’s always the mud truck option, so long as he promises not to squat it.

Just to be on the safe side, explain to our Greek pal what you mean…

Stamatis, imagine a peeing girl dog and that’s basically it.

Hahahaha!!!

A squatted truck is a vehicle modification where the front suspension is lifted significantly higher than the rear, creating a noticeable forward-angled or “squatting” appearance. This style, also known as the “Carolina Squat” or “Cali Lean,” originated from off-road racing but is now primarily an aesthetic trend. The modification has sparked significant controversy due to safety concerns and has led to it being banned in several U.S. states.

I am content that Kartpulse has become a source of learnings about our various cultures. Even when it’s dumb, like modifying cars for no good reason.

No Stamatis, No!
