KartPulse Members Willing to Help - By Location

Unfortunately didn’t see anyone listed from central Florida. What I would really like, and their location wouldn’t matter at all, is someone I could email with whom I could ask questions and get answers. It’s so much faster and easier than continually posting questions here.

I’m going karting for the first time but years ago I owned a formula car race shop so I’m not unfamiliar with racing. I realize karts have their own unique knowledge base and I want to get into it if someone can help.

Try Italo at Urace.us. Good guy. He will help you get started. He is often at Orlando Karting Center. He runs an arrive and drive program for those starting out.

Thanks, Paul. I’ll check him out.

Willing to help a newbie in the Naperville/Wheaton IL area.

Just getting into the sport and I mean very new to it. Any chance you can tell me what kart size for my 6 year old son? Based on searching I’m assuming he will be running a 50cc engine. Not sure if that would be 2 stroke or 4?

I see the term “Bambino” used but that seems to be a UK based term. We live in the U.S.

Thank you for any info! Definitely a lot to learn but we are really excited!

I’m in Michigan and ready to get my 6 yo son into the sport this summer. Not even sure what size kart to get. I am researching all over the internet. Any advice to where it grab a kart, what size, what track to start at.

Thank you!!

The only track I know of is East Lancing. For kid karts, you can either go Comer, Honda, or 206 normally. Personally I recommend Comer, I think it teaches the kids better driving mechanics, but it can be slower than the 206 overall.

Bambino is also what they call Kid Karts in Europe, but a lot of the kid kart chassis from European manufacturers will be called Bambinos.

Precision Karting Technologies is out of Michigan in Wixom. That’ll be a good place to visit and get started from.

As already mentions there is East Lansing Kart Track. There other ‘Michigan’ track is Michiana Raceway Park.

I would definitely head to your local track and introduce your selves and make some new friends. See what the other kid karts are racing and run that motor.

Again as Aaron said you want a kid kart, best to find a used one, the folks at the local track will likely know of some.

Anyone in the Alabama area

Anyone in Houston? I have been rental karting for some time and looking to purchase my own kart.

I’m in San Antonio, but travel to Houston to race all the time. I know there are a few on here that are in the Houston area directly. There are 2 tracks in the Houston area, one is Gulf Coast Karters in Katy, and the other is Speedsportz Racing Park in New Caney. Speedsportz has a kart shop and would be a great place for you to start looking. They even have a racing experience where you can drive a 125cc Rotax kart.

Hi! I am in my 30s and totally new to performance driving. I’m really into it, and I don’t really want to race karts (they really beat me up), but I want to get involved in the technical side. I live in Southern California, LA Valley area. I have a mechanical engineering degree, and I have been hands-on building and developing products my whole career. However, I know next to nothing about cars/karts and engines. I was wondering if anyone needs an extra hand on race weekends that would also explain things to me. Calspeed and Adams are both about an hour from me on a weekend morning, and I’d be happy to make the drive a couple of times per month.

Jonathan - If you can tolerate hanging with some old guys, the “3 Karting Amigos”, come to a Tri-C Karters race at CalSpeed. The next race is May 7. We are in pit space 408 to 411, I think. I also have a mechanical engineering degree. There are 3 of us. All on OTK karts. Two of us have a decades of karting experience, the other has a couple of years. He’s the one that needs help.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately, May 7th is the only day that I already have plans for in the next month. If you guys are doing the whole series, I can keep July 2 open and reach out to see if you still won’t mind a mildly socially awkward engineer hanging around then.

Thanks,

Jonathan

We also practice the Friday before the race, so that is another option for next month or the for the next race.

ya sorry for the late response dm and i can set you up

Hi!

Any World Formula around New Jersey?
LO206 or WF fits my budget.
I’m from near Philly.

Thanks,
Ed

Broward county Florida. Im getting ready to hit the track in a week or so. Anyone else near actively hitting the track? Willing to help others and may need a little help from time to time as well…

Crazy that I haven’t seen this thread in the past. If anyone needs a hand finding their way we are located trackside at Pitt Race (full disclosure - we are a retail kart shop).

Any help getting information to get started, tuning, gearing, tire pressures, etc. Or we also offer arrive & drives, coaching, sales, service.

We are mostly at Pitt Race but can help get you pointed to the tracks around us regionally as well and help you find the help you need at those tracks.
