Looking to a new chassis for 206 masters (390 lbs)

Which chassis model OTK for the big guy LO206?

Definitely a RR. Dan doesn’t do 4 stroke OTKs

Can i ask your reasoning for this? My son runs the 4 cycle OTK chassis currently, but I’m debating a switch to the 2 cycle chassis in the future.

I have zero experience with the 4 stroke OTK I’ve actually never been on a 4 stroke purpose kart. Only used a Covert 3.0 and the Racefactory chassis.

I think the 4 stroke OTK stuff uses different parts than the RRs so for Dans case I assume the reasoning is. He has a fairly large customer base of OTK users with most using 206 but a good few of higher hp applications. KA/Rotax.

The 2 cycle kart works fantastic for Briggs and probably saves time and headache only sticking to the 2 stroke karts

Just my opinion not speaking for Dan here.

Most likely just doesn’t see the value in the 4 stroke specific OTK

Chase hit on most of the important points. We did run a few of the 4-cycle chassis but I found them to be fine in junior and just not as good as the standard 401 in senior and masters.

The 4-cycle kart was primarily designed around the Canadian 50” rear width ruleset and I just don’t think it does as good a job as the traditional 401 at conventional widths.

I also believe that the components in general that were downsized/speced took the kart in the wrong direction. Smaller or lighter spindles/kingpins/axles/tubing diameter/hubs etc all went in a direction contrary to what is needed to run a decent medium compound tire in 206.

Again, great kart for the right market or class - just that the 401 is better IMO.

Well, went by the margay factory today. Got to sit in a few karts and look at them up close.

Was pretty impressed with the brava. Got to sit in a “limo” version with the front extended. At 6’ tall, I did find it more comfortable.

Got to discuss the differences in the karts. The ignites have a front end geometry set up for the super hard spec tires, while the brava series is set up for a medium compound, closer to the evinco blues we run at our club.

Definitely on my list. I’ll see how stuff fits me at comet next week.

Thank you very much for the feedback. We’re currently running the 4 cycle STV450 chassis, but im considering making the switch to the 2 cycle chassis for 206 for my son next year. Partially because, like you said, the quality and components is top notch on the 2 cycle, especially the brakes compared to the 4 cycle, and there are a lot more 2 cycles out there. Now i am in canada so we’d have to cut the axle down for the 50" regulations, but im still tempted to try it.

I hope you’ll consider doing a thread on the factory visits, including how you arranged them. Thanks!

is the 50" axle just for 206 or is that all classes? At 50" doesn’t the rear bumper stick out beyond the tires?

Just 206, our 2 cycle classes run 55.25" max i believe. No, the bumpers dont stick out past the wheels.
