MyChron 6 Discussion - Comparison, reviews etc

I´m really interested in MC6
I would like to see if it is possible to show at same time Best Lap and Predictive Lap
In MC5 is not possible (something strange bit it is this way)
I wish it could be possibe on MC6

When is the AIM app being released, it has been on the way for years now

Yes, you are wright
But now it is another (RS3 -mobile-)
We hope this one finally be released (not as AIM´s previous one which never was released)

Thank you Matt !! I just updated to the latest RS3, and horizontal panning is now working !!!

I’ve lost confidence in the release lol

Well there’s a familiar name from my Rennlist and PCA instructor days. Thanks for joining our community and helping bring technical knowledge to this group.

That’s cool! So you can split out the predictive delta from the LED lights and use the LEDs for, say, rpm?

My kids are getting into karts, so…Getting to play with the MyChron5 on their kart and seeing the M6 in person at PRI, I figured I can help out a lot of kart folks. The software side is easy for me and hopefully with some videos I can help more people dig into RS3.

Aim has updated their website with all the new Mychron 6 information. Comparing it directly to the 5s page it doesn’t seem like too much has changed honestly, at least not enough to drop another $600-$700 just to have the new Mychron 6. However there is a section that has an avert for a new RS3 app. Appears to only be compatable with the new Mychron 6 but there is not an active link to download it yet. :crossed_fingers: It will be compatible with the 5s as well.

A small note - the M6 data is on the AiM UK importer’s website, not the real AiM website (www.aimsports.com or www.aim-sportline.com). The info looked accurate, but IMHO, they should not be the source of info.

The MyChron6 does have the second CAN (undeclared use yet), USB connection, internal battery, 6 axis IMU with steering position built in, BT HR monitor connection and recording, and the digital output. With the the 25 Hz GPS, I think it’s a worthy upgrade from a MyChron5 (10 Hz GPS) without a doubt.

The phone app will be iOS and should be out Q1. It will work with WiFi devices, so MyChron5, MyChron5S, and all the RS3 configured car loggers. There might be some other options, but we will have to wait to know for sure.

The UK site also mentions the simplified version of RS3. That is a great feature that makes analysis much easier and takes a lot of work of learning RS3 away. I’ll get a video up on my YT channel asap.

The 5S is 25Hz. I don’t think the plain 5 is available anymore.

Edit: Yeah, 5 has been OOP for a few years. The 5S is the better comparison.

Correct on the GPS speed and availability of the M5. Many people will use them interchangeably and I wanted to make sure I was specific. Sorry if that created confusion. The extra speed of the 25 Hz GPS is worth the upgrade IMHO from an M5 to an M5S or M6.

Have you heard of any RS3 MacOS support in the works?

No MacOS support that I know about. A PC is the best bet as the newer M1 and M2 processor Mac have some driver troubles when trying to connect to devices, though WiFi seems like the best bet. If you are committed to running Windows on a Mac, you could download on a PC and then use the AiM Cloud to transfer data. I use the Cloud for profiles and data share between my computers all the time.

I just primarily use Apple-Mac products and it would be nice to not have to use a separate system or go through a bunch of extra steps solely for RS.

I’m a Mac guy too but for data I just have a dedicated refurbed Windows laptop I got for like $150. That’s my track computer so it runs pretty good with nothing but data software on it.

Here is a quick video showing the Simplified mode that gives you a paired down RS3 Analysis. If you have struggled with RS3 before, it’s a good way to get started with data.

Race Studios requirements are so low it’s almost comical. The main thing to consider is the kind of video you may review and/or edit.

Sometimes it’s a PITA to have separate devices, but there’s something to be said for a throwaway laptop for the track too. When I had a need, I placed all my RS stuff in a Dropbox folder so I had access to it without having to manually copy the data between devices.

Could you put the link Of AIM UK importer´s website
I would like to see it and find the user manual
