I would work with the Solo 2 as well. I’m not sure what other app you are referencing. There has been talk about it for a number of years. This one is the closest to being ready and is actively being worked on for release.
The steering angle thing looks interesting to me.
I think you could formulate math channels to detect oversteer / corrections or maybe even understeering.
If you have steering angle (from any sort of sensor) you can work in under/oversteer. You can do it with calculations that take more time or quickly by comparing lat g w/ steering angle in an Scatter Plot.

I can see the potential benefit for clutch karts, but shifters, not so much.
Even at 25 Hz the variation in the 5S makes comparison of lines between different sessions pretty difficult. There is still quite a bit of drift.
On a kart, where space is tight, I wish the Mychron 6 had added a few analog channels so an expansion box wasn’t necessary.
@TrailBrakeMatt - the Mychron 5S documents say it doesn’t have an IMU but when I have it connected to race studio 3, on one of the pages where you can get live status from the Mychron 5S, it shows three gyro and three accelerometer readings that seem to respond as what one would get from an IMU. Can you confirm if there is actually an IMU or not, and if there is one is it used?
The IMU depends a bit on the revision. The IMU is one of the parts that became impossible to get during the shortages after Covid. Some units had it and some did not.
The IMU use really depends on the mounting and what you want. If it’s mounted on the wheel and turning, it’s not going to give you good data as it’s always moving. If it’s mounted solid, like on some dirt oval karts and other applications, the IMU can provide useful data.

It’s listed on the website https://aimsports.com/us/products/mychron6/index.htm but as far as I know, it has not shipped in the US yet. I do not know if any have been shipped in the other parts of the world.

The M6 should be hitting some dealers in limited numbers today and tomorrow. They have started shipping and going out. Italy is producing them a good clip, but it will take a little bit to meet all the demand.
