M1 Concourse in Pontiac Michigan New Karting Track Featuring ( Blueshock Electric Racing Karts.. ) To be open in August 2026 from info found .. Full 84 MPH Electric Racing Karts coming to Michigan.. Electric Race Karts are Growing !!!
This place is local to me.
I try and stay away lol. M1 Concourse is owned by non-car enthusiast business owners. They do not host open track days, donât let non-paying members out on the track ever, and arenât even open to the public to look around.
My guess is that while yes, there will be nice electric rental karts, owners who arenât members will never get a chance to drive on the track, they wonât host actual races, and itâll just be another playground for those who want to pay over 600k a year for a garage. It wonât be a traditional kart track where you can show up, pay, and drive. If it does, Iâll be there constantly. I would honestly be willing to bet that the public wonât even be able to use these karts, as the way M1 typically does business is only offering services to their members.
This place used to be cool, but then it changed ownership and has very much gone downhill since then. Not to be the downer, but Iâve lived 20 minutes from this place for its lifespan.
Update. Did a bit of research. Unfortunately, despite saying theyre now âopen to the publicâ, I still found this.
Yeah, âtheirâ public
And THIS is why âmotorsports country clubsâ are quite frankly the thing thatâs going to kill local âregionalâ motorsports. Iâll die on that hill. MCC in Cinci is the only exception that I can think of because the Bayliffâs are awesome people who care. Thats it.
From what Iâve read, to be in the Karting Club, youâll have to pay the separate Motorsports Club fee: $11,500 YEARLY to be able to drive 3-4 times a week. This boils down to a daily rate (practicing 4x a week, 7 months out of the year) of around $96 a day..
For reference, a practice day at New Castle costs me $45 for driver band and pit pass. For a track thatâs twice the length..
At G&J its throw Gary a $20 and have fun until the sun goes down..
We need more of that. Not these exclusive playgrounds.
Well, a new place is ready to open by me, itâs a high-end car storage place coupled with a members-only restaurant, banquet room (members-only) and lounge area. Membership fee + storage fee + who knows what else fees.
Somehow I make do with my non-climate controlled garageâŚ.
While I agree with the sentiment, Iâd be careful generalizing that far. There are some country club owners who care about the sport. MCC in Cincinnati hosts local karting events that are by far the most affordable, most welcoming, and most fun events I have ever attended. I am literally just a never-was 206 masters driver and they welcome me like family every time I attend.
I think thats more important than the business model. An owner/person who cares about the sport.
Ive seen enough of the new ownerâs moves (and have a few friends that actually work there as track workers, and a couple more who are just on site mechanics for members) to have a pretty confident opinion about how this will play out.
Example: the first thing they did under the new ownership was start charging $25 entry for their cars and coffee events, while all others around here are free. Then bumped it to $30 if im not mistaken. Idk, I stopped going.
Trust me, I REALLY hope this will be an actual publicly accessible track, even if only part time. If it is, Iâll be there all the time. I just know how these people are. M1 is a complete and polar opposite of MCC, or at least the MCC that was presented to me when I went.
Talked to them will be $150.00 a month or $1800.00 a Year for Membership Karting Club. Then the cost to rent karts to Race on Kart Track or your personally owned electric karts. They will have Blueshock Electric Race Karts to rent or you can buy one from them they will be a Blueshock Dealer too. Racing will be for now autocross or time attack racing with Karts. Not GP against each other . With Track owned Karts. BlueShock or Electric Karts will only be allowed on track NO GAS Karts.. From what I understand.. Yeaa !!! A place for Us Electric Race Kart Enthusiast to Run !!!

If thereâs truly enough demand at a lower cost point you can have both. I think the reality weâre facing is that new facilities that are in any way close to a metro are seeing crazy startup costs and pushback from residents.
So more controlled, more expensive and quieter options are what weâre likely to see. This one is a good example, electric karts only, restricted hours and no racing.
Well thatâs unfortunateâŚ
Ahhh yes. Honestly didnât even think about this factor, and a bit surprised since itâs such a common problem for a lot of tracks.
Now that being said, for those that arenât privy to the layout of metro Detroit, M1 is in the hood, while also being along Woodward (famous Michigan road where lots of car people drive around and hang out). We like to joke about whether itâs cars downshifting or semi automatic rounds going off.. Either way you make a good point.
HQ Racing is the offshoot of other HQ biz and is a near perfect modern iteration of what indoor rental can be if the focus isnât on selling drinks and gaming tokens
Will you be joining?

Okay I have to ask, but what types of karts have you driven? Anything with a 2 stroke pipe powerband?
Iâm just wondering what you have in your wheelhouse to make comparisons for.
Well my Dad was engineer in the 70s for Rupp Manufacturing that Made Rupp Race Go karts. I raced endurance and sprint karts with twin 2 cycle McCullohâs on it in the 70s. Also have built many High performance Car Engines & Harleys and 250 H.p. 2 cycle Off Trail & Trail Snowmobiles . Have had a Machine MetalFab Shop . Since I was 15 years old now 62. Also was a test engineer mechanic for test department at Cub Cadet which we tested alot of different kind of engines.. Thanks for asking Jake.. ( Grandson is one of the pro drivers at K1 Speed Canton and the only K1 that does 1/2 / 6 / 12 Hour Endurance Races with Electric Karts.. ) And a big fan of Blueshock Electric Race Karts ..
