Loving these pictures and got nostalgia. Found some old racing pictures in the scrap book of karting back in the day and various other things I raced. Can you tell I love the number 8?
Lets see your older photos too! Cheers.
Clayon, What are the dirt oval cars called?
The winged one is called a mini sprint. Uses a 600cc sports bike engine. The white one is called a dirt modified. ~450 cubic inch V8.
I’ve raced a little bit of everything on dirt including dirt late models, sprint cars, and side-by-sides. I’ll see if I cant find any other pictures.
Ooh. Have you had a chance to drive the 430? (Lo206 dirt car) and the big boy 700hp Sprint car like in Outlaws?
No LO206 yet. I’ve been looking into getting one to run a couple races here and there. I really enjoy dirt racing.
Yes I got the privileged to race a sprint car a couple years. Absolutely nothing compares to it!
Ok you are now a gladiator in my eyes. I love those things but they are a bit bananas.
thought it was an even crazier 900hp…
I was just guessing. I have driven them in iracing and they are the spawn of the devil. In a good way. Mostly.
Yeah most outlaws are pretty close to 4 digit power at 1350 lbs
@Ronald_Swift That’s an excellent photograph!
Here’s a good one of me, taken by a pro. Need to track them down to buy it:
New lid from Tanguy, same as the old lid. It’s time for a new suit. Also, nicks new helmet:
Why do we give the kids the good stuff?
because we deserve it
no idea actually, but I quite enjoy it
First race in the new chassis didn’t really go as planned. It was a pretty cold day (high of 54* and overcast) and I struggled a lot with grip. Qualified fourth out of 18 (somehow I’m always 4th. no idea how it always works that way) after getting held up for my last two laps where the tires really started to come in. Pre final had no drama but didn’t have the pace to keep up with the front runners. Started the final in 4th and had a big brain fart moment and drove off and cycled back into 12th. Worked my way back up to 6th. Coming to the white flag was passing a lapped kart and got a little held up, allowing the kart behind me to get a run. He then proceeded to chop my nose off after I gave him space, making me spin. Ended up on line, sideways, with Andy Kutscher coming at me around a blind corner. Made for a bit of an exciting end of the race, though not in my favor. Oh well. Onto the next one.
Photo From 2 weekends ago clean swept the weekend winning the wet final by 9 seconds to pick up my first open meeting win in nearly 5 years
Badass looking old school kart
Neat suit, too.
That’s some drafting! There is considerable diversity in how folks sit. Some have knees up high, some low. Assuming you are 233, that’s a lovely helmet/livery.
