I’m glad we were able to avoid any contact and look forward to racing again in the near future. Lets try near the front next time though!!!
My compliments on your choice of engine, as well as chassis.
Need more of an action pic, but this is all the coolness I can muster at the moment.
Santa of Speed!
My favorite pic of myself. Cooldown lap after a W… A hundred years ago when we raced 4 cycles with 6 inch tires and big noses.
Belated congrats! That must have been quite satisfying after 5 years.
Thanks Dom, yes been along time between standing on the Top step, nice to get it done again you start to wonder if your still fast enough to win at times.
My ride for 2021: 2019 Exprit chassis, DD2 Rotax, nr 452.
Track is Circuit de Landsard, the Netherlands.
Bill, 415 is Bay Area iirc? Been a while since I was out SF way. Looks dry as heck. Lovely shots.
Here are some recent ones I like. First one was this past weekend going through a hairpin. The next 2 was from the start of the race in April with 39 karts in the field.
I really like the bottom one!
I think that might be the same one, or similar, to the one posted on EKN for the race roundup.
We’re neighbors. I’m ~1 hr south of the US-CDN border, & got mine at IM-USA. Valiente recommended the Elto INOX 3 oval, so I went with it. I actually have an Energy/Parolin 32/32 chassis, while my K9ES drives a 32/32 framed GP8/CRG.
The ES engine isn’t going to have the peak HP of a blueprinted KZ, but you’ll probably never notice it unless there’s enough high speed sections on a track for it to show, but you will be getting comparitively more track time between rebuilds.
I tentatively considered the 175, but as IM is a TM importer & tuner, & TM is the motor in the SIMA KZ series, so it was a no-brainer. That TM engines dominate in the international KZ arena doesn’t hurt, either.
I’m definitely in the KZ-ES camp, so while the EURO SS motor with starter would’ve been my choice if I went with the 175, to my knowledge, the IAME isn’t supported or raced anywhere in the NW region. Even so, a 125 is plenty of motor, particularly on a technical course like SIMA.
Keep in mind, SKUSA isn’t dropping 125 from the KZ class. In fact, the tuned 125s will race alongside the 175SSE. I also like & will continue to prefer starter-based KZ engines, & the SSE is old-school roll/spin start, plus with SIMA being a home track & IM-USA a TM importer/tuner/service center, that kind of seals the deal for me. In my view, chassis are easy enough work with, but engine support is critical. I’m not at the level, or at least have the tools & specific knowledge, to split cases (would like to), & motor troubleshooting knowledge is always good to have on hand if needed.
I’m really looking forward to the track/paddock expansion. I figured they had their eye on that corner property abutting the track. Don’t know how long it will take to get it up, though.
Does Marin have a track now, or are those pictures from Sears Point? I’m in Florida now but I’m from Sonoma so I’m a bit disconnected.
That’s sears point. They put in the track back in 2002. I’m in Oregon now and I really miss the place.
Team 33 with matching liveries. I like.
