V8 swap the minivan!
The Rotiforms with the turbo wheel covers are on point!
having seen sams setup in person, its definitely something to be jealous of.
Every time I go to buy a vehicle I debate on getting an older Odyssey or manual Mazda5 to slam and put on some Work wheels and use as a kid/kart hauler. The Mazda might be too small but the manual transmission is so sick.
Cool van Sam! We are kid-less too and have a van. Mercedes Metris, cargo. Iāve got it set up for moto,ā¦camping and dog rescue. I was not a van guyā¦never wanted one. A good friend talked me into itā¦i told my wife, if i dont like it, iāll sell it. Thought i would have it for a year. 8 years later Iām still in love. Iām a van for life guy now. Funny how that works. Iām in Fort Mill sc, just south of Charlotte. Iāve been all over the usā¦west coast 3 times and colorado 6-7 timesā¦going again in Aug. I haul my dirt bikesā¦i also camp in it, and if wife and dogs go I pull the camper to the nc mts. Vans are great. Now just need to do the karting thing. But in the mean time i enjoy reading about guys here driving and racing and watching youtube. Iām deep into motorcycles, all types so i need to make time and space for karting.
I got tired of a truck with an enclosed trailer, especially for close by local events. The fuel mileage hit just sucks. Not to mention the long trips. Either way, I sold the truck & trailer and started doing Mini-Van things. Of course itās a compromise but I donāt find myself missing the trailer. Itās excellent and going from 10-11mpg to 25+ is nice. They are also supremely comfortable daily drivers. We have a 981 Cayman S in the garage if I want to have fun but as long as I am karting, theyāll always be a Mini-Van at my house.
A Mazda 5 is a little too small. Odysseys are great but youāll need to plan on a transmission if itās a 2nd generation and the VCM (Cylinder Deactivation) on the 3rd & 4th Gens can sometimes cause issues . 11-16 Siennaās (2GRFE V6 with the 6 speed Auto) are rock solid.
I have a tiny Harbor Freight trailer now but I started out cramming my kart in the back of my Gen 5 Subaru Outback! Worked fine but it got old having to completely disassemble the kart every track day. I also had no room for a canopy. My ākart standā was just two fold up saw horses lol. But, it worked and is how I started!
So this isnāt exactly a kart but before we got the 6x12 trailer we still haul our karts with, this is how we got the kidsā quarter midgets to the track. Fortunately, the track was only a mile on city streets from the house. Got lots of odd looks from other driversā¦
