I agree. New Castle is always on peoples list and it’s beautifully located between interstate and truck stop.
They only time pretty and Etown were mentioned in the same breath were when people would say “the track is pretty damn bumpy” or “the bathrooms smell pretty bad”.
Lemme see if I can find the “peak Etown” footage… There’s an old video somewhere. On vhs. Kind of nails it.
On windy days, the big foam blocks used to protect drivers from fence gets blown all over track, leading to much hilarity as karts get bonked by errant styrofoam.
2 deaths and 2 births: Greatful Dead and E-Town, a different view
Worth a watch, very much a product of its time.
Leave it to me to start a thread about “prettiest” track and then go in the opposite direction. More adderall, please.
Check the re-upload. Still says processing a day later.
Lord Hesketh (or whatever his title was) was the fella who had James Hunt on his team in the early days, if I am not mistaken? Was he (Hesketh) also involved in karting?
That looks fantastic!
Bert Hesketh did the World Cup. No relation to Lord Hesketh as far as I know
Theo his Grand-Son raced karts and maybe atill does with the bear logo and everything as of a couple years ago.
The English track that reminds me of Heysham is Angelsey. Chris Harris swans about sideways here in many a car test video.

What a coincidence, that’s me driving through the grass in that clip.
I’ll fix my upload when I get to the shop tomorrow.
Ha! That was not intentional, I assure you.
Still not as bad as VIN number.
Seems like a cool track, is it worth going out for a race? Do they have any club level races?
I don’t think it be the greatest idea for my first race back to be USPKS
Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia
Okay, it’s a road circuit but even a Rotax Max on a standard chassis is an adventurous run here. You won’t forget it. Hop on a plane and come race with the Victorian Superkart Club.
Definitely worth it for any karter to come drive I think. The hard part is figuring out how. I don’t think the have club races anymore and most series don’t travel the because it’s in the middle of nowhere and doesn’t usually draw good entries, so everyone stopped coming.
Cup Karts was there this year I believe, but otherwise they just don’t have races there because no one wants to travel up there. Road America does less than average in attendance and this is almost two hours further north.
Speaking of, RA is beautiful as well. Rolling hills, tucked into one of the most historic road courses in the country, usually with some sort of car action going on the big track so you get great engine noises bouncing through the hills too. Good vibe.
It’s a shame; if that track was down by Chicago area it would be a mega hit.
What am I missing? It seems that USAir is 2 hrs from Milwaukee which doesn’t seem too far removed.
Can’t draw from Milwaukee when you’ve got Road America and Dousman so much closer. That well is used up.
For anyone traveling from the next biggest metro areas (Chicago or Minneapolis) it’s a nearly 4 hour trip. And each of those areas has their own much closer tracks.
Shawano is just equally inconvenient for every close major market.
That being said, I don’t mind driving up there, it’s not that bad for me. The USPKS events there in ‘15 and ‘16 were so fun. That was the last time I was up there I think.
IMHO, the pretty track is the one you can see from the top of the podium. I’ve never been there before, but I romanticize about the idea and what that view must look like . . .
Rather drive the main track in a 250
