I found it strange how much pleasure driving I have been doing of late. It started innocently enough, to film something else, to maybe look at finding other stories to tell, kinda, or at least, to experience them myself.
Somehow the driving snuck up on me. I’m having trouble expressing it. This isn’t racing at all. It’s pure sensory stuff. I can honestly say I have no idea what is going on but what you articulated above hit home. I think this also somehow ties a few things together but I can’t quite see it yet.
I have a lot of fun with the lines on the road and the “line”. Also, balance stuff relative to line. How the car feels under load and how the engine produces power depending upon how you ask, when you ask. Just little feels.
The one downside of all this unprotected car sex is that my driving has moments that aren’t really suitable for general consumption. I had way too much fun merging today. Nothing fast, just very precise placing the car, accel and decel.
I had a moment today when I had to lift. I almost podded the dude next to me coming onto subway platform because some noob couldn’t figure out the pit exit (turnstile).
Oh, hey… I never mentioned this but re: race walking. I race “see”. In my extensive walking I engage visually as I would racing on track.
If I’m not mistaken, these look the business but fall over frequently, pinning their drivers underneath. This advertisement does not mention this, but does make a compelling argument for their product.
I’m hoping to snag a new wheel over the holidays. I’ve got an older Fanatec F1 wheel. It’s really nice in some aspects and cheap in others.
The GSI stuff has been catching my eye lately.
The Gomez stuff is really nice. I too have thought about one of the fancy wheels. They look great!
My issue with the fanatec is while they are pretty they do fall apart over time. I have had better results with some wheels versus others. The cheap ones are cheap for a reason.
I would hope so for that amount of money. The core of my Fanatec wheel is great, the advanced shifting module feels awesome, but it’s starting to miss shifts which is super annoying and takes me out of the zone mid race. And I’m getting ghost button presses. I’ll be driving along and suddenly my TC setting change.
Yea I pulled it apart and checked everything and it seems fine. I soldered a brand new DIN style connector to it with zero luck.
My universal hub has been flawless tho. It’ nice to change out a rim overtime if you want something different.
