In other words, it’s a good arms workout.
I often get a notification that you’re running laps on youtube.
Tanguy says that his 20nm version was actually a serious workout and actually builds muscle!
My impression is that it’s not so much that it’s “strong” but rather that the “torque” is savage with DD in general. It responds instantly and powerfully. Which can be a problem if it catches you unawares.
Oh dear:
This looks insane. Wheelspin galore.
So I bought it!
I took this out for a few laps and Holy Heck, this is an amazing car. Its utterly planted and sneakily fast.
It has brakes that will make you weep. They are incredible. I really need carbon fiber discs on my go kart please. You know how you usually test at the 100? Test at the 50!
The car noise is reminischent of a Dyson product. Poweful but odd sounding. Like some strange alien tech. Each gear sounds the same and spools up similarly. A bit odd, TBH. I normally drive listening to the sound and shifting based off that. Here, I cant make any sense of the shift lights or engine sound, so I’m taking my best guess!
Its also quite beautiful in its detail. Have a looksie above!
To make Halo transparent:
I put the car in auto-shift tonight and it transformed the vehicle. Apparently these things shift insanely quick.
With the gears happening in the background, you can focus on making these monsters of grip flow. They are something else to drive. Very planted.
Starting does become crazy hard. I have yet to figure out how to have it start gracefully in auto. Very hard to find just enough throttle to keep it in 1st gear and yet not spinning the wheels.
Well, I did a couple races in the Mercedes and had a good time. It’s a bonkers vehicle. Incredibly fast and grippy.
After putting it on auto shift, the car got a lot more interesting. I don’t know how the pros shift that fast IRL. Must be exhausting going bang, bang, bang, release, bang, bang, bang, all the time.
I am not sure I will dive seriously into this car. It’s a bit like driving science. It’s so otherworldly in its capabilities. The downforce allows you to accelerate and brake in ways that are simply not possible without a lot of aero and hp.
There’s a huge learning curve here and I may return instead to the USF2000. Dunno why but there’s something a little more ragged and “true” to that little car or a go-kart.
These big formula cars are cool fantasies, though, and if you are gonna pretend drive, why not drive the best?
One possible reason to stick with it: my two races I came in top 10 despite being 3-5s off the pace. All I did was not crash, not fall off the track. Methinks I could make some hay in an appropriate split.
Oh, driving the merc will ruin your other car driving abilities, temporarily. It’s so different that when you get back to your normal car, it takes 15 minutes to re-acclimate.
Cool site:
Hi Dom, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
I tried again yesterday and finally got a few laps in, the best it’s been so far, but still very jerky and unplayable. It would lock up and then start again and I’d be further down the track or in a fence somewhere!
I’m guessing it could be my gear is not good enough to run in VR.
My current setup is intel i7-8750H, Nvidea GeForce 1070, 16 gb ram.
Might need to upgrade?
Your video card is more than good enough. @tankyx do you think his cpu is an issue?
I have seen on discord some folks with the same general issue. It might be that a log dump would allow the developer to see what the problem is.
If you want to do that, you need to make an @developer post in the discord explaining the problem. I can help if you not sure how.
Hi Dom, you’ve lost me! I’m on an iPad talking to you . I guess I’d have to be on my laptop to send the required info? Not sure how to though?
Any help would be good mate. Thanks for your time
Shooting out for a couple of hours but I’ll check here when I get back.
So join the discord using the invite. Once you are in, pm me your info so I can friend you and help.
Well Microcenter is advertising these as available:
Bottom line, the Radeon RX 6600 XT currently offers gamers significantly more value than the GeForce RTX 3060, and therefore should be the go-to option for those looking this level of performance. Unless you play specific games that are favored by DLSS/RT enhancements, that’s our clear recommendation.
on the laptop now, can’t get to kk server
The best is to try, but it is a laptop, not a recent one, it won’t be enough for VR IMO
Do you think his cpu is why he’s getting the mega lag? His card should run the video at low.
His card is slightly different that the PC one, his machine being the laptop, but yes the CPU is an issue, and cannot be changed IIRC
Aha. It could just be hardware then.
Amazingly I have tolerable Vr in KK and iRacing using a laptop. Ryzen 7 4700u with integrated graphics. Still not sure how.
Hmmm. Well maybe this will help: KartKraft system requirements | Can I Run KartKraft
