Do people think L206 series is getting away from being spec racing ??? And Tilly T4s are a great thing to bring back strict spec racing. Seems like there is alot of engine building and tinkering with L206 and its getting away from spec racing ?? And the cost is getting out of control. And Tilly T4s are bringing it back to a affordable level of racing and racecraft ??? I know I might have opened a can of worms. But its just a thought ???
People like to tinker. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that.
I like the tilly because it is fast enough to require braking and entry speed management more like a 2 stroke.
You think T4 is going to not have tinkerers? When BKC ran it a few years ago, we fielded multiple calls about how to “have a good one built”.
T4 engine is just a 206.
Spec T4 karts is just like Margay Ignite.
As soon as it gets traction and grows, it will be just like the 206 classes. There is no inherent benefit to the Tillotson product line.
Its at a good price compared to New L206 and a new chassis thou ?? Thoughts ? Thinking about one that’s why I put question up ? Also T4 is a 225cc alot more H.P. than the L206 …
If you want to go faster just buy a KA.
No engine on the planet is redneck proof. They will all be spoofed in the long run
What do you mean exactly, can you be more specific. Otherwise it seems like a bit it a stirring the pot situation here. From I can tell there’s little change in 15 years or so for 206. …. People will always try things and you can’t stop people spending money. I think what the 206 program does is mitigate some of the advantages (perceived or otherwise) that these things might have.
Re speed…. practically everything is faster than a 206
Truth is, most people don’t care how fast a class is… proof is the in entry numbers. For the drivers that want to go faster there’s a myriad of options too. Although to be fair they are predominantly two stroke which I’m sure is a bit of a barrier too.
Is someone on McCrone’s payroll?
That’s a bit harsh
$950 with no exhaust and no clutch or mount…
Add prep cost.
This is cheaper how?
We’re segmenting the market because?
Our new 206s are $950 prepped ready to install a cluctha me add a mount…
I calls it like I sees it, boss.
One could argue most of us are “206 shills”
too though. I want to avoid that kinda path and see what substance in the argument we can find, debate each on its own merit.
The World Series event that Tillotson hosts is kinda cool.
I refuted the cost claim. Don’t we have a big 225RS thread already?
Nope just trying to see what people think of the T4 vs L206 . Just seems like a cheaper way to get into racing than L206 and KA . My 13 year old grandson has alot of interest in one
20 lololololols

Yep thats what he will be starting in at LOK in gas !!! And there electric program with Podium Fox Karts. Since he is running GP league and Endurance League at K1 Speed Canton Ohio. He has a youtube channel called K1 Racer too of all his races there.
Of course, but the question started like this…
OK, but what costs are you hearing for these two packages?
Tillotson is a great company and one of the longest standing brands in the sport. When PVL (Ignition system on the 206) were going under, Tillotson bought them out. They have great people working there, some of whom I’ve raced with back in the 90’s (Jeeze I sound old). It looks like the 225 is now a well sorted package.
But, to have a good faith discussion comparing the 206 and the 225, we need to discuss some specifics on cost and what separates them in terms of parity and tinkering.
(edit, I’m confused now… Are we talking about the Tillotson rentals, the spec class that includes the chassis, or the spec classes that are engine only)
No, that’s me screwing up another thread. Ignore.
