I ate all of that kerb when I raced there back in 2021. I’m surprised more people weren’t using it, it seemed like a straight shot off the corner to turn 8
That’s my buddy Maxi. He does some really awesome stuff, he’s put a lot of time and effort into that documentary
First time driving in the wet this weekend for my sons and I. We don’t have wets, so we just limped it along in slicks and had a blast.
Many spinouts and a heck of a time trying to find consistency. Just when I’d start to find a good line and put together a clean lap or two, I’d lose it under braking on a tight corner.
All good though, it was a great experience and it helped us ease into our inputs and drive more smoothly.
Finally got my GoPro back up and running and was able to get some onboard footage again yesterday while practicing for what will be my first Stars race in KZ Masters next week. I think it’s kinda neat seeing the improvement from the first video I shared back in January compared to this one, though I’m sure there’s still room for more - feel free to chime in with tips and suggestions! Hopefully I’ll be able to get some race footage next week at MCC.
Alright I’ll bite. New Castle. Compkart Covert 3.0 / Rok Shifter. 2 different track layouts. driving tips are welcome as I’m near the back of the pack.
That’s a lot of wet. The first spin came outta nowhere. I wish I had wisdom to share but I am a bad rain racer. What I can tell you is that the more you do it, the better you get so try to rain race when you can.
One smol thing, when it’s super wet like that, drive in the marbles. Use the perimeter of the track that collects all the gunk to find better grip for brakey and turney bits.
Bro you are taking flight after T1 going into the dip! Send it!!
Your laps make @olivier.p 's look like they are in slow motion (no offence Oliver). I mean the speed differential between KA and KZ coming up that hill is sick. I don’t know if my brain could process everything coming at you at those speeds. How are your lap times compared to other KZ’s there?
Haha thanks Greg! I’ve gone back to back with this and a KA and X30 a few times and yeah, nothing quite compares. Tons of fun.
Generally speaking I’ve been pretty competitive at the front with the other shifters, there’s one other regular that’s usually about 1-2 tenths quicker on most race days. However in this practice I’m running MG yellows instead of AMP’s usual Vega greens since Stars uses MG’s and I’m mainly trying to prep for that, so this run is a bit quicker than usual. My best time of the day was a 48.3, and the fastest time from last year before AMP switched from MGs to Vegas I believe was a 47.9 by Kremers running a Rok.
Side note - I’ve never gotten to the point where I feel happy with the Vegas. With new rubber I’ll usually be in the high 48s, but then I feel like I have to baby the tires the rest of the day just to keep them in the high 49s in the final. It makes sense for the MGs to be faster overall given they’re a softer compound, but despite that they also seem to last longer and are easier to manage. I haven’t been able to find any upside to the Vegas yet.
