Killer driving man, you weren’t lying about the grip out there!
Here’s some KZ onboard from KRA #9 at NCMP. This was a makeup race, so I started at the rear. I was running about the same pace as the leaders, so I advanced through the field about as far as I could. Couple of little mistakes here and there, but the chassis and engine were on point!
Your engine has the top end of 1000 Viking ships. Mardan was lucky to have you pushing him and not just driving around him!
This is now how I describe what I want to every engine builder I ever talk to from today until I die.
I had at least 2 if not 3 less teeth than him, if I carried good corner momentum it turned into a pretty good straight line advantage.
I knew I wasn’t starting on the front row of the final even though I won the opening heat on the weekend so I was pretty patient in that heat…too patient in looking back.
Everybody knows dragons are worth 2 tenths.
This is getting me thinking about the Dungeons and Dragons Monster manual. So many different dragon types.
That’s it! I’m getting one for my kart. It’ll get me that much closer to the fast guys!
Always with dragons.
Here’s another onboard from the same day as the previous one linked above. This was the 2nd main event of the day, and I made some changes that were the wrong direction, so my pace was lacking a bit. Still had fun out there…the bus stop section is flat out (when kart is good) in 5th gear!
Black dragons was difficult,
Gold ones could also destroy your armour or your weapons with a good breath dice
Full kz practice session at Orlando.
I think this is the gearing and setup for the next race here, it is feeling really good.
Nice driving. The pass around the 3 minute mark was slick
Thanks! That’s one of those passes where I somehow knew there was going to be a hole not matter what, and was 100% committed.
Back to day races at G&J this week. Ethan and I spent most of both the heat & feature races fighting in a train for 2nd-3rd-4th in a good-sized 14 kart Masters class on the most technical layout at G&J. In the feature I was able to sneak by him for 3rd but unable to make the move for 2nd.
Ethan Pre-Final
Ethan Final
I tried a Pedal Cam setup for the weekend which came out pretty cool
One of our competitors was actually able to catch our last couple lap battle pretty well in the Pre-Final from his perspective:
Oregon State Karting Championship Series (OSKCS) Round 8 was two weekends ago. Finished the session videos from race day! Overall, I had a good day with some minor mistakes and frustrations.
The biggest win for me was that my chassis felt HOOKED UP! It was so balanced and felt amazing, better than ever! I took out the caster and that really helped my balance through the high speed corners. I bested my PB time in this layout by 0.2 too! Qualified 4th just a few hundredths off of 3rd place (while being 20lbs over weight lol). Finished the day in 4th, but I was in 2nd for a brief moment in the final. Unfortunately that late braking pass compromised my exit too much and I got trained back to 4th lol.
GoPro died in Heat 2 for some reason… As always let me know any feedback you see on my driving! I feel like I was much more smooth and driving well but there is always room to improve!
Would it be beneficial to use more road on the exit of the last two corners? Seems like you leave a lot of space on the outside there.
Perhaps. I noticed this too because I noticed nobody uses the full track there. What I was thinking is that in LO206, both corners are full throttle anyway on the tighter line I’m taking. They are pretty wide radius corners too so it doesnt feel like taking the line I’m taking is binding up the kart. So, I was thinking that if I don’t need to use the full track there, I can make the track “shorter” by bringing them in a bit?
I know in theory, the wider the corner the better, but I’m curious if corners can be so wide that you don’t actually need to go fully outside on entry and exit?
Edit: actually, in rewatching the videos, in qualifying, I am using the fully width of the track. But in the races, I am choosing to stay in the draft of the person in front of me. They tend to take a tighter line. That brings up a good question though; is it better to stay in their draft or to be on the racing line?
