What did you do to your Kart Today? (2025 Edition)

Maybe the super free setup joke flew over my head with the lack of axle

Thought you meant you were trying low rear for the first time.

LOL yeah you missed the joke haha

I did make a good amount of progress today though. Got the axle all cleaned up and back in the Compkart. Got the seat struts mounted where i wanted them, which makes all the work finished getting the Jecko in. Now all we need to do is a top end refresh and the Compkart is ready for the track.

DR kart got some love today too. Got the carb torn down, cleaned, put back together. The jetting was unknown before i went into it, and after taking it apart, it appears to be running the Tec-Sav setup. Also took the motor off, so that can get gone through properly. Found that whoever owned this kart before apparently didnt know how to align a chain by the looks of this? And GOOD LORD the amount of zipties on this fuel system.

Well, how do you align the sprocket and chain? I’m eyeballing it and use rotational resistance to free up tension from the chain, but other than that?

You can straight edge it with a ruler but i tend to I spin the axle and check if sprocket teeth land in the middle of the chain on both sprockets

I normally do just this, with the occational time I need a straight edge. But with the 428 shifter chains, they’re pretty beefy chains and aren’t that hard to align. I never really looked at it when we got the kart just because the axle spun with almost no resistance, so I didn’t think anything of it.

Sold the kid kart…rescued from facebook marketplace 2 hrs. away…rehabbed for my son to drive 1x in church parking lot, now he’s already too big. Pacified him with promise of a Lefty Nitro LO206. This is on its’ way to a new racer in CT. Fare thee well…

Some people will look at EGT to tune the low end, I focus more on low speed RPM and throttle feel.
