Sweet! What you gonna track with the 2nd “T”?
On the Briggs for fun I’ll log oil temp during practice. On the 4t shifter I’m logging oil and head temp.
Some new parts come from Italy, also installation of a Cheap instrument that is rpm and also water temp and hour meter all together.
Seems decent.
Assembled the crank today🙌🏻
Very fun, but I have to do it all over since the crank pin was 46mm and was supposed to be 45mm🙃
First of all clean everything thoroughly, oil the pin and hammer it down slightly with a copper hammer and make sure it is straight.
Then press it flush with the crank halve, put shims, bearing, rod and shims.
Oil everything again and align the other halve, this is where a jig comes handy! You can also use a angle hook to align everything
Last press down and measure the play, I use 0.5-0.6mm on 100cc and 0.6-0.7mm on my kz.
Last you have to check the runout, some slight adjustments could be needed with the copper hammer
I took my kart over to the track (Fremont OH) and worked with them to scale my kart. I’ve been struggling with the rear being ‘stuck’ to the track; lo and behold I needed to move 8 lbs from the back of the seat to the front of the kart. That improved the scale numbers significantly. Approaching severe thunderstorms meant no track testing so we’ll see how it goes at Elkhart.
Threw the $1000 special into the trailer. Might drive it today… needs a few things done so we’ll see.
At the cosmic kart with the vortex ex rok engine it was time to change the fuel pump with a new one coz the old was frequently stuck and diddt pump fuel,
On the tony-iame x30 super kart.
We change the needle spring at the carburator from the Standart 42gram to 46 gram and the change to how the engine works is more that I could ask. Sounds rear alive and crispy in all rpm band, the idle is more stable and the rpm rising is quicker! We still need to test it on race track, but the first impression I get in the stand is very good.
Also we install the new jecko seat, it looks and feels great. Second kart of the small team here almost ready to go!!
The higher pop of spring leads to a more lean setting, I would richen it slightly before you test in on track to prevent seizing. Better to start rich than lean
Drained the gear oil, then packed up the engine, pipe, and every CR80R related part to ship to Tucker James.
Sad day. I had planned to buy and run 125 TAG or shifter, but after 2020 the local club went to LO206 only for adults and I lost interest. At least it’s going to someone who will be able to make use of it.
Have a little post race cleanup to do after getting back from TSRS Rimrock at 2am Monday. The conditions were extremely hard on equipment, with lots and lots of dust and dirt. Basic wipedown Monday night, tonight will be motor off and bearings pulled to pressure wash, it is just too filthy to wipe it all!!!
That track surface looked so weird and funny to watch on YouTube
Sooo much dust. It made the surface look strange. If you haven’t experience the desert on a windy day you just can’t grasp the dust. You could make a lap and have a dirt cloud blow across part of the track and the grip would be different next time. It was mostly old asphalt had been freshly sealed in the past 4-6 weeks, those areas were shiny black once the dust was cleared off. There were a few places where the track was filled in behind some curbing and the curbing painted black to straighten the track, those areas kept a flat black appearance most of the weekend.
The weird track worked well for my son all weekend, ended with a P3 in 206 Sr.
Somewhere in the desert, @Richard_Jacques is amused.
First time on the podium at the Pitt Race club, we’ve had a pretty stellar top 5 for years now. Finally put it all together for a P3.
Stripped it and sent it to the kart shop. Out of nowhere, we fell off pace last weekend. Found a few cracks. Going to have them welded, and then put on the table.
These OTK seem easy to drive and tune, but I’m curious as to how quickly they “go bad”.
My first year on the OTK brand. We got a brand new chassis. But have heard from countless others that those are common spots for weld cracks on OTK. Consensus seems to be weld and let er rip.
They don’t go bad. I’ve seen 8 year old karts win national races.
They do crack in specific spots, not unlike most karts. Weld it and keep an eye on it.
