What did you do to your kart today?

Lovely stuff!

Reasonably cheap, 147 euros for plastic, paint and stickers

Was able to jump into a Factory Kart today for a few laps after I was done coaching which was fun. Was curious how they felt.

Some very interesting details on the chassis.

Did the steering feel substantially different than what you’re used to? Because that’s how the shifter chassis feels…I like it though.

No I thought the steering felt fairly typical. The kart was very easy to drive but with how it was setup it struggled to hold the inside rear up so it was pretty bound up on exit. I think if we jacked the ride height up in the rear, took out some caster (was at max) and threw some proper wheels on (had MXJs for god knows what reason) it would’ve been better. Pleasantly surprised with the brake feel.

This was the 28mm kart and I was pretty surprised how well it worked and how stiff it actually felt. I was worried it would fold like a noodle in the center of the corner but it didn’t.

Overall it was good to drive but definitely needed some work to find the sweet spot on tuning. Based on track conditions it probably was about 0.3-0.4 slower than my OTK but with some setup changes I think it could’ve done the same times.

Finally, the old boy is assembled! Very pleased with how everything turned out. Nice bright red in the sun with lots of sparkling metallic in it. Bmw Melbourne Red actually

Brand new yellow fairing with new stickers🔥

Looks amazing!!!

Makes me want one

Thanks bud!

10/10 recommend!! Such a wonderful feeling, very nimble and fast karts. Super fun to drive and wrench with, a lot less stuff to keep on top of. Just 100% pure :fire::raised_hands:t2:

And the best part, 19.5k rpm and cooling fins resonance screaming through your head :joy:

Last minute offer to run a friend’s chassis at the CKNA race at my home track this weekend resulted in me spending a couple hours installing this sexy Greyhound Racing Seats RS5 seat in a borrowed Birel AM29…

Engine is getting new valves and springs and a light touch on the seats tomorrow to finish prepping. :crossed_fingers:

Today I installed crank bearing into the crank case of my PCR engine.

I was filming a step by step tutorial on how to do it, but I f*cked it all up in the end when taking the crank cases out of the oven😂 I got the bearing in slightly wrong so that I had to heat it all up again and do it all over again and forgot to video it…

But basically what you want to do is clean the halves thoroughly.

Put them in a cold oven and then put the oven on 140c to gradually heat them up so it doesn’t get warped.

Have an infrared temp gun available and measure the halves until they have reached 110-120c.

Then take the bearings from the freezer, take one halve out and just drop it straight in. Thermal expansion will do its magic!

Keep in mind that some engines run very tight tolerances so sometimes it is a one shot as the aluminum cools a lot faster than the bearings made out of steel.

And voila, no harm done and bearings installed

Hey Luca, what’s all the scratching in the left side near bearing? Is that ok?

I think it is from a previous seizing or the previous owner wasn’t to careful when I messed with it.

It is only surface scratches, so no harm ant all to run with. If it was chunks missing I would be worried😁

Today I’m doubling the value of my kart by adding this. Franklin Motorsports got it to my door in just a couple of days.
