I also turn the wheels to get the pump to move the water around a bit then top off 2nd time and you are good

Different feeling, same outcome

I mean… yes and no. I have now the track record at my hometrack (unoficial) and it was 0.500 faster then old brakes and chassis. Alot better brake performance. I had 4 year old brakes… and now i can move my braking points about 5m longer

But in my defense, I have an alternative for those with cash to burn: I installed the 3/4" fill cap T from the Prestone coolant drain kit on the coolant return line at about the midway point to help fill the
radiator & engine without encapsulating air.

I also installed 2 other 3/4" T’s on the lower hoses to aid in draining, & it seems to work.

Servicing tillotson carb with a new kit , checking also for the pop off it was a little bit lower but we give a litlle stretch to the needle pressure spring and after that it pops at 10 psi and hold steady at 8 psi . Off course i will order new springs 42 and 46 grams for future tests .

The engine was running a litlle Ritch on low rews and bogs at idle so the low needle needed to be a litlle bit tighter from the baseline set up to make the engine run crispy at low revs and keep a healthy idle . Front end aligment also done . Almost new tires installled and all the bodyworks clean up and set up to see the picture almost done .





Now we will try to raise some money and get a new seat . I thing is gonna be a jecko coz we are happy with the same seat on our other kart .

Prepping things for round 3 of the Stars Championship series. I replaced the packing in my exhaust silencer, and swapped over to a different piston and head combo to test in advance of the race weekend. I fully expected the silencer to be heavier with the new packing due to loss of material, but it was actually the opposite. The packing seems to collect oil/soot over time, so the silencer was around 20 grams lighter after replacing.

You just drill the rivets to take the packing out and the re rivet it?

I have the same silcencer in mine and hasn’t done this yet. How tightly did you pack it and with what?

Yep, just drill the rivets out slowly with a 5mm bit and replace with new 5mm rivets (I used rivets with 6mm grip length).

Elto makes a packing replacement kit that I ordered from a shop here in the US, but I’m sure it’s easily available in Europe.

I pulled both end caps off for easy access. The “entry” side cap has the core affixed, so simply roll the new packing around the core, reinstall and rivet that side, then reinstall the “exit” end cap, making sure that it is aligned to the core. It will require a rubber mallet, but it’s pretty straightforward once you have it all apart.

One of the things I was advised on early in my kart driving experiences was to check the tire pressures as soon as possible coming off the track. Cold tires pick up more rubber than Hot tires. Driving off line results in excessive rubber pickup. i.e. Running through the marbles!

Keep a note of what your starting pressure was compare to your exit pressure was for each corner. If any corner pressure was significantly different than another, in the case of lower, then that tire is not being worked as hard as the others. Don’t be afraid to stagger the pressures so that all four corners end at the same hot pressure off the track. An easy way to do that is after measuring them immediately off track, drop the pressure in every tire to the lowest pressure measured. After the tires cool down, recheck their pressure. Each will be different again. Next, based on the tire manufacturer’s operating pressure adjust each tire up so that it finishes at that pressure. For example, all of the tires started at 13 psi. After coming off track, the right rear was at 16 psi, the left rear at 15 psi, the right front at 15 psi and the left front at 14 psi. Drop all of the tires to 14 psi then let them cool down and re-measure them. You will see the same staggered difference when they are cold as when they were hot. Next add air to each tire such that the cold pressure will equal the desired hot pressure in the working range when coming off track. So, if your desire hot pressure is 14 psi, you will add 1 psi to each tire when cold. Check your results. They should all come out to the desired 14 psi when check hot.

Hot rubber is greasy and Cold rubber is somewhat sticky when contacting hot rubber. Think of it like this…if the track is rubbered in, then the surface gets warm from all of the friction of tires rolling over it and tires will grip laterally, but not vertically. If you suddenly introduce a cold rubber surface, the track rubber will firm up and adhere to the tire as it rolls over it versus adhering to the pavement from which its already stuck. If one of your tires is not within the operating range, it will pick up excess rubber off the track.

By raising the initial pressure of the tire, it will gain heat quicker than by lowering it. Same reason you may do a short qualifying session with slightly higher pressure than a heat or a main. You want the tires to come in quicker versus coming in later for a longer stint. With time and data, you will figure out at what pressure each tire needs to be at cold to come off track at your ideal pressure. Later you will find different rim choices can affect temperature in tires over longer stints, which is why wheel tuning is a thing.

Finally some paint on my PCR Leopard chassis, previous owner scraped the color off and put some clear on in. I wanted it oem red, bought new stickers and found brand new yellow plastic!
