How do you Transport Your Kart? [Pic Topic]

I want one… Ill try to convince my parents to buy one.

Hopefully finishing my current trailer remodel tomorrow. Then I’ll post some pictures

I didnt buy it just for karting but I may or may not have taken a tape measure with me to the dealership to see if my kart would fit.

That will do the trick!

Reminds me of the 80’s. Does this bring back any memories?

With a kid still in a car-seat, I had to have 4 doors, but found the Quad-Cab only comes with the short bed. I opted for the double cab instead (shorter rear doors). Not as much leg room in the back seat, but the I can fit my kart in the bed with the tires and bumpers on and still close the tailgate (6.5 ft inner length bed). Just roll the stand up the dropped tailgate, lift the front wheels up and onto the bed, then just roll the kart right in. All of the peripherals go around it, in the kart seat and on the floor of the rear that has a split bench seat flipped up.

Fits nicely in the bed of my Tacoma X-Runner. I made two platforms that the kart sits in. My tool box, etc is stored under the kart.

Towed by Honda Civic. So the trailer must be light…also one man loadable. Here comes the winch. I also have a small garage and I wish I can buy a bigger trailer.

The pain is that I have to unhitch to load/unload.

The winch is remote controlled. One hand holds the remote and the other lifts the trailer, so the tounges touche the ground. Then winch.

It’s not perfect, but works.

Tiny racecar in a tiny enclosed trailer pulled by a tiny car.

That’s so cool. I am forced to keep my kart in storage at the circuit. I don’t have the room for a trailer nor would it fit in my car. Unfortunately these days getting a towbar attached to a modern day vehicle is like a $7-800 job in Australia due to the electronics.

Jake, just practicing at Pitt Race or is someone actually racinf 2 strokes there again? Would love to come race that track but last I saw 2 stroke racing up there was pretty limited.

The electronics for mine was the easiest part - managed to find a $35 CURT 4-pin wiring harness on Amazon and the installation was a breeze. I had U-Haul handle the hitch part, so in all I probably spent around $200 on getting my ST tow-ready. Had to do a little extra rigging with some high-temp silicone sheeting to keep the exhaust from knocking on hitch though, which was less than ideal. But overall it’s been working great!

Just practicing, the only league offerings at Pitt right now are LO206 and rentals. It would be awesome if they added some 2-stroke stuff though.

Hi Matt, I love that trailer, which one is it? Do you remember the brand and size? I’m facing the same problem, Prius + Kart and no place to store either, other than stacking them vertically.
Many thanks in advance.

Michael,

It’s from Northern Tool, but it’s the same dimensions as the small steel trailer from Harbor Freight.

There is a guy who comes to my local track with this weird kit trailer. The whole thing when stored at home resembles a ping pong table folded up. It simply unravels and easily holds a kart. The design is ingenious.

Looking through here at the cool vans, box trucks etc.

Years ago I had the great idea to make an ambulance into a kart hauler. The fun factor was perfect. Planned everything out. Even had it named the Camberlance :star_struck:

The Mrs determined I would not be buying an ambulance. I now have a plain old pickup and trailer. :joy:

The former motocrosser who got me into shifters tried that in the 90s. For a year he left the track in an ambulance every time. More often than not it wasn’t his ambulance. He said that thing always had bad vibes.

The fellas from Top Gear went there iirc. Hammond rigged up a hydraulic eject system to launch the patients from the ambulance into the hospital.
