How do you Transport Your Kart? [Pic Topic]

I got this one from HF best &300.00 I ever spent works great and light, was stuck using my PT Crusier as my work van for a spell and got one to haul my larger tools (chop saw, table saw. etc
worked great. Would rather it had taller tires but hauls well loaded

Just sold my 2015 Challenger Scatpack, thinking about something I can daily in comfort and come race weekend carry the kart around, unload single handed easily.

I’m thinking Merc Viano, 3.5 V6. I reckon that’ll make a solid kart transporter.

You see some of the Mercedes work vans in the states now and I must admit, the tall version looks ideal.

No looking at a Sprinter, too big for what I need. Actually I’m looking to take a VIP Viano (of course this IS Dubai :joy::joy:) and take out the rearmost seat. Build a shelf 26cm high so I can roll the kart straight onto/off of the trolley and have storage drawer under it for tools, consumables etc.

VIP version bcos it has super strong AC in the back, I can close the door and crack a Pocari :sweat_drops:

That’s a minivan with potential, for sure. It’s sort of crossover minivan / Limo? Somewhere this is lowered and made into something pretty crazy, I bet.

That reminds me of Engineered to Slide’s van. I wish we got cool vans here in the states. We get stuck with ugly things for soccer moms.

Ooh, thats nice. Racy. It drives me nuts that to make cars look sexy we have to hobble them with large wheels.

Yeah the VW T5s are great. We use em as a maintenance van for the planes.

I toyed with getting a Eurovan earlier this year to make into a kart transport but they hold their value insanely well, so they’re really overpriced and it wouldn’t have been ideal dimensions anyway.

The T5 above would be cooler anyway if we had them.

We got a Merc Sprinter in at the Dealership the other day and the thought of it as a Karting Vehicle danced through my head. Unfortunately the cost, care, maintenance and insurance of another vehicle brought me back down to earth. In caparison to a trailer, it just didn’t make sense for me.

I remember growing up we got a Ram Van. I think my Dad was able to Sell the idea to my Mom as a Family Transporter, as we used to do a lot of Road-trips. However, my dad wanted some more useful to tow his racecar back and forth to the track. I must admit, it was great for both.

Large enough for the whole family and dog. Strong enough to pull a trailer.

The inside was huge. Plenty of room to stretch out with middle row captains chairs that swiveled and a moveable table between them.
Ram%20Van%20Rear
The back had plenty of room for storage, a bench seat that folded down into a bed and a ladder on the rear door to climb up onto the roof. What more could a kid ask for in a Family Truckster! I think we got like 8 miles to the gallon as a daily driver and like 5 when towing. Good thing gas was cheap back then.

That looks cool but everyone loves ice cream:

A bunch of these for sale. Could supplement income between heats.

Your idea is factually better

As anyone ever placed the kart inside the trunk of their sedan? Wanting ideas of how to do that cause that’s what I’m probably gonna have to do (disassembly probably required) :joy:

Screw that! I put a hitch on my old Impala and towed it with a Motorcycle trailer. You can get a light duty hitch for almost any sedan and Harbor Freight sells an inexpensive folding trailer that will work just fine. All in under $700! Much better than showing up the day before to rebuild your kart and leaving the day after once disassembled again.

Do I have to do a complete disassembly though? I didn’t think so, I front I just had to take apart the front bumper with the steering wheel, take off the wheels and thats all

I agree with Greg on this one, trying to fit a kart in a sedan seems like a terrible experience. I have gone to the track in a mid sized SUV (Ford Edge) and even then the kart barely fit. We had to remove front and rear bumpers, side pods, wheels, and the rear hubs.

I would imagine that the height of the steering wheel would also be a problem in a sedan. I’m not sure what car you’re planning on trying it with, but there is no way I would be able to cram a kart in the back of my A3. Not to mention the fuel jug, tools, stand, spares etc.

Another option is renting a trailer from a company like Uhaul. I rented a 6x12 enclosed trailer for $30 once before I purchased my own. Local shops in my area also transport karts for around $50 for the day.

I was planning on fitting it into a Honda Accord, height seems to be the biggest issue, I can put the seats down in the back so length isn’t a big deal. I would just remove the side pods and wheels so that it can fit widthwise, I measured the width and length. The steering wheel is pretty much the only obstacle that I can think of, is there a way to take off the steering wheel and the front part? Dont know what its called so I took a pic of the part I’m referring to

The faring (plastic part) comes off. The steering wheel can be removed from the column.
