Post a cool Pic of you in your Kart

Something about the nastalgia of Street Races in Ohio with straw bales lining the streets…

It takes me back to my childhood of watching Sarah Fisher whoop on all the boys at The Commercial Point Grand Prix in the late 90’s.

Here is one of me ~2012 running at the back of the Yamaha Senior class:

I’d like to invite all of you to come race at “The Rock”… Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix presented by The Hemp Doctor, 30-31 August, 2025. It will be our 30th race in 32 years!! While I share the nostalgia for the old days, we found out the hard way that straw bales and karts are not a good thing. We discovered that the hard way when a kart with hot exhaust pipe backed into a bale and set a dozen or more on fire, almost burning down a nearby building and melting a parking meter. While I’m a fan of Clyde, and other street races that have survived, I’m amazed anyone in US is still insuring a race with straw bales and pretty marginal plastic fencing, and spectators less than 6 feet away in these days – as illustrated in your photo… just my opinion. (First photo is a LeMans style start which is ONLY reason there are crew between the 2 sets of barriers… second photo shows what we use insted of straw… including 2 layers of barriers with good runoff, foam pillows on light post, construction fence etc.) Most nostalgic memories of Rock Island will include all of this! Come make your own!

We were debating whether to run Commercial Point or Elkhart a couple years ago but that was the first year it was canceled…:slightly_frowning_face:

The game is Kart Racing Pro.
I used this plugin called “Reshade” which adds filters to the game. The base graphics on the game are bland.
I guess that’s what a game from 2010 and made by one guy gives you.
The BirelART paint was made by Scotty Briscoe at iDesign for the Online Karting League bodywork, which are laserscanned by the team at Against All Odds eSports (OKL organizers) Paid mod but for the Worlds its free entry.
I made the helmet and suit mostly, I used others public paints as a base and heavily modified it. Currently the helmet is getting replaced by a helmet paint that I won in a giveaway, which is being painted by Bryce Stevens.

Cool photo. I really like the Kosmic coloring on the helmet, as well. Really love when the whole package matches!

Awesome! I like it! I’ll be downloading that edit if you dont mind.

That was his “2023” helmet, which he relegated to practice and rain days. We did that one to match the kart, his 2024 helmet we did to match the suit.

Cool helmet… the Stig in red sort of!

Thats an unusual radiator cover/clamshell thing.

Top secret aero deal on the radiator. Honeycomb grill/inlet keeps the rock from hitting the fins. Rad is sealed to the seat, no air can flow around the rad. It has to go through the core. Entire backside of the rad is exposed to the low pressure area behind the rad and the driver. Temps are very stable.

31-32 year throwback… 1992 ish, waiting to go out and smoke some old guys in the “open motorcycle engine” class we raced at Fruitland Park when I was 16. Kart designed and built by my dad, YZ490 still on gas here, but eventually on methanol. Raced that class for 5 years, won the championship three times. My dad and another fast local took the other 2. All five championships came down to the last race of the season. It seems unbelievable now looking back. So much fun…,

Just found this one, Dad with me in the background. This was 1994 I believe, karts were on methanol and very sorted. I could drive mine with one hand and just lay my right hand on my knee… one handed wheelie drifting before it was called drifting (at least to my knowledge,)
