Shifter Build Thread - KZ 2022 Paddle Shifter

Yes. It’s the best paddle system you can buy, don’t even think about other options. I tested them all. Their system is 0 maintenance, easy to install, super reliable and it just works.

I may look in to it when budget allows, L shoulder x 5 surgeries including total reconstruction along with left Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery and a brachial plexus decompression.

That’s a lot of doctoring…

This kind of stuff takes a toll on your body after a few decades

I hear ya, I had to give up arson after it did my knees in. Now I just key Teslas at the mall.

That was about 45 seconds before the entire ceiling collapsed on me

Ahh. That’s terrifying and I’m sorry you got hurt.

I can tell you in my case, paddle system made the difference between suffering through a 20 lap day and being able to complete a 100 lap day. Night and day, since with shoulder injuries/instability what kills you is not fatigue, but the bumps and unexpected adjustments you have to make one-handed on the steering wheel

Thank you for all your tip, this will help a great deal when I put everything today after the new year.

Andy-

Looking at the set up, the actuator just attaches to shifter shaft in lieu of the manual linkage?

Alex

yes, it’s that easy. You can either extend the shaft or make a longer one. When you adjust your chain and move the engine, you simply move the bracket holding the box to keep everything square

Looks like TL now has an uber premium version now…

The blue tooth programmable ECU version was released about 2-3 years back. I’d like to know if it’s being used in KZ1.

logated by the CIK-FIA.
9.14.1 KZ ignition system
It must be of the analogue type, without any variable timing system
(timing of advance and delay).
A mass may be added to the ignition rotor. It must be securely
attached by at least two screws, without any modifications to the
homologated rotor.

Does anyone have a link to TheLab shifter kit?

Damn, 2k for this system! I’ll keep yanking on my rod…lol

There’s also a cheaper version, around $1.5K, non-carbon. Still pricey, but aligned with Mechatron price tag, just much better quality/reliability/performance. I think for that price you get the entire system, including battery and charger.
As a point of reference, the system from motori seven is 499EUR, much cheaper if you are ok going the mechanical route

Yeah, the difference is the top end version has an ECU that has an auto neutral finder & is programmable for shift speed, & has an ignition cutout. The lower cost unit omits the ECU & those features (Note: neutral is acquired by shifting to 1st or 2nd & the a quick the up or down “blip” to disengage. It’s actually very easy to do).

Inflation has driven up costs on everything. New chassis are ~$1K more than they were just a couple years ago, as another example.
