Tillotson T4 Kart/Series

What??? how long is the track?

1.1 miles
At CKNA last week the fastest 206’s in almost every class ran in the 1:10’s.
Same track configuration, full course, clockwise.
If someone can snag CKNA race on speed hive, please do. I tried to find it but was unable to do so. Found this one on the 100cc’s.

Notice the top three all finished in 1 minute. Sometimes they break into the 59 second category.

Like I said, 10 seconds between 206 and 100cc. Thats how I came up with that number.

Tires would matter in this comparo. LO are going to be run on hard to med tires whereas KA100 most likely would be on similar compounds to TAG?

Also 1.1 miles is pretty long for a typical kart track?

Very good point. Didn’t consider that.

On a 1.3 mile long car sized track world formulas are “only” 10 seconds off shifters… (56 vs 1:06) do the 206 run on flintstone tires?

Sometimes 206 classes run on hard compounds like Hoosier R80. I think CKNA runs a hard-ish vega.

1-2s would seem fair.
That is about the performance difference between the Torini Clubmaxx & Supermaxx engines that are the lion’s share of engines in 4ss karting in Australia. (10hp/6100rpm limit vs 15hp/7200rpm limit). All on the same Vega VAH tyres.

206s aren’t so popular here anymore (in 4ss sprint karting anyway) with the power deficit to the Clubmaxx (8.8 vs 10) while running the same weight, and the T4 is probably similar in performance to a Supermaxx.

They usually run on Reds, whether its MG or Vega depends on the series.

Kinda wish Tillotson would send some T4’s to run Monticello, I’d like to see how they meassure up.

New update, but as a 206 I finally go the chance to run with 3 Tillotson karts yesterday. All drivers were former 206 racers, and I got a few takeaways from running with them.

  1. Are they faster than a 206, yes on the straights, on my 1.1 mile track they were about 2-3 seconds faster.

  2. (Something I didn’t know) If an Lo206 is $599 but you have to purchase all the additional equipment, like air filter, exhaust, etc. An Lo206 costs around $900. Whereas, the TIlly comes with everything out of the box for $899, so the costs are way more comparable than I realized.

Tilly owners said they are pretty happy with the extra speed, but all of them stated the carb issues are a pain to deal with, as most of them keep 2-3 extra carbs on hand as I guess they are that prone to issues. (On a side note, I found that odd being Tilly started as a carb company) :person_tipping_hand:

Like I said, it was interesting to run with them and talk to them, as I had never seen a Tilly in person until yesterday.

The World Formula has almost double the power of a 206 (14 hp vs 8).

Also, if X1 Outdoors is 1.3 miles, I would like to rent their pavement-stretching machine, you’d be averaging nearly 80 MPH to lap it in one minute and I was geared for only 74 when I ran 1:03 there.

This is Canaan motor club. X1 is a 1:10 lap I think.
Canaan is 1.26, and wf will do 76 in a draft. You only brake twice the entire lap. Geared for 74 at x1?? Damn, that’s pretty crazy. I think I did about 64 there.
I know someone did a 1:08 on mg yellows. X1 is 1.1, right?

I thought X1 got dozed? Did I miss something? Did someone come in and save the track?

Oh no it’s dozed. Gone with the wind.
Last picture I’ve seen of it was several months ago

I would say Briggs 206 with Senior slide is over 8hp. Also, this was meassured at the wheels through driveline loss and this is certainly not the most powerful stock motor on the grid.

206 is rated at 8.8hp

Note, 206 and KA is open tire vs Spec Maxxis for Tillotson.

I will say one thing on the grid, almost always one of those karts barely made it out like 5 people just sawing on the pull handle to get them started. It made it clear that class will struggle to gain popularity with such struggles to get started. I think 225 might also be slightly heavier (engine is heavier apparently)

Very similar laptime for top guy in both packages. Good parity! Is there anywhere where these are raced alongside LO in same field?

It’s a full second difference. You wouldn’t be able to heads up race these packages without a big ol’ weight break.

I thought I saw a few hundredths between the tilly and the lo. Upon closer inspection, I see that i missed the digits column.

I figured it was a misread. I had to go back and look a couple more times to make sure I was seeing the times right.
