What did you do to your Kart Today? (2025 Edition)

Broken in and ready to race, did cut my personal best by 0.2s

The new seat made the chassis free as a bird. Rolled out of the corners with ease, good balance. No real understeer or oversteer :face_exhaling:

And the lovely rotary, screamed at 19500rpm🔥

Made an Insta360 mount. Saved a bundle of money, and man, it seems pretty sturdy. Used a seat support, and cut a section out of an old bent nerf bar. Tubing was just right, and the nerf bar fit perfectly. Epoxied a cap on top, don’t want to take a human core sample should I crash. We’ll see how it holds up tomorrow!

Race 1 for OVKA at G&J Kartway today, great turnout with 125 karts, including 33 Senior 206 racers, big grids for both 206 and 100cc Masters, and 14 Sportsman racers with lots of new families.

Went out to Grattan Raceway this weekend for a test in preparation for my first upcoming road race season. Learned a lot. Big tracks are FAST. You need a set of big ones to drive these tracks. But when you learn it its the most rewarding thing I think Ive done in a kart. No good on track shots sadly.

Got out yesterday with my son to put a few laps on his new kart. I’m really loving the looks of the kart.

He did some easy laps to break in the new motor and make sure his dad remembered to tighten all the bolts… we will puts new tires on it later this week and see if needs any adjustments.

Changed my brake disc and installed a guard too.
The track here eats frames, brake discs etc. if you get off track.

Grinding on a test cylinder. Going to back-to-back this cylinder with one of my others this week and see if I uncovered the holy grail or wasted my entire evening :face_with_peeking_eye:

Your dentist must have to check for his drills after you visit. Sort of the dental equivalent of #10 socket problems.

I just noticed your pfp is a cat on a slice of pizza. In space. Many questions like “how does he breathe?” And isn’t it very cold or is the pizza keeping him comfortable as a sort of space blanket? Also, how did he get there? and is he a trained cosmokat or an unfortunate amateur thrust into the profession by a freak pizza parlor malfunction/explosion?

Either way, pizza is involved so all is copacetic.

Made it out to the track today to test the science cylinder and it performed very well. It’s very gratifying, as the modifications I made were pretty substantial and took many hours of work. I changed the size/shape/timing of the auxiliary exhaust ports, along with some modifications to the size and shape of the exhaust duct, and a different header.

After the first session with the new cylinder I made a slight tweak and it really came alive for the second session. I need to go through the data in detail, but peak mph was about 0.5mph higher vs. one of my known good cylinders. I put the engine on a customers kart for him to try and he really like it compared to his Swedetech, but admittedly that engine probably was not optimally jetted.

It seemed better on peak power and top end. I bolted on my Vegas motor towards the end of the day and it seemed nearly equal in terms of pace, but a broader and more balanced power band. Looking forward to diving into the data.

Unrelated photo of cool clouds on my drive out to the track.
