Oooh, a RS125. I’m jealous! Does that ever make it out to a track day?

Well this is my last gp bike and i kept it in the garage . From my 2 stroke bike days .

It needs a full rebuild in the engine but rs is costly and i am so much into the go kart drug now so i can spare a dollar for enything alse .

But his time will come for sure. …

An exxelent bike !!

Best brakes in the world . And 40hp with less than 80 kg bike

91 is when I was doing my road racing and canyon riding in Southern California, so this bike has a special place in my heart. It was pretty amazing thing back then that a consumer could purchase a fully purpose built track machine directly from the manufacturer and compete with it. You’d really have to rev the hell out these 125’s on a big track, but with the right rider they’d be embarrassing quite a few people with bigger bikes :grinning:. And the 250’s, damn! To this day if I had a standing offer to ride one of those, it’s probably the only thing that could get me back on a bike, lol.

Beautiful machine.

Today I built an adapter for both vacuum and pressure test.

Built out of an old spark plug, barb and some epoxy glue. Very easy to do!

Plugging the reed holes I just use 1mm rubber gasket between the carb and housing

Do you actually rent a van when you go to the track?

Yes we cant afford a big van yet for a 3 kart team .

So the expences for a day renting a crafter here in my town is 80 euros . If we share it , its 20 bucks fpr each one of us . And thats what we do till now …

I got the tires out of the trailer and off the karts in the garage before Thanksgiving in anticipation of some seriously (high teens F) cold temps.

Motors are coming off next week when the temps go up a little, then a drive to drop them off at Lawson’s shop and visit my daughter who is a grad student at Kent State University. Coincidentally, Kent is on the way to Lawson’s shop>

Fresh top end and a gearbox oil change on the R2. Cleaned and measured the clutch plates.

Today I crashed my kart. I got my throttle cable clamp caught on my suit or shoe, went for the brakes at about 70 in the top of 5th gear for a hairpin and the engine kept singing. Managed to slow it to 40mph or so before catching the plastic spring loaded barrier at an angle. Impact felt like nothing but the kart didn’t agree.

I will say the fastest an engine ever feels is when you let off and it doesn’t.

Glad you’re OK l, that could have been a hell of a shunt.

It’s be real cool if kart manufacturers worked on solving issues like snagged throttle cables instead of horrid bodywork.

I have to say it is my fault. It is one of those flat clamps and it has an easily catchable edge. I feel like I should have wrapped it in some tape or something to make it smooth. Live and learn. Fortunately, I am typically pretty ok at “guiding her in” when it goes awry like that Turns out when you crash a lot you can get pretty good at it!

Again, one for the non-existent “quotes” thread.
