Our wire mesh is woven from corrosion-resistant Type 304 stainless steel wire. It can be cut with tin snips or wire cutters and shaped as you would shape sheet metal. Rivet it in place to protect radiators and oil coolers against small rocks and other debris.
All three mesh sizes have between 56% and 66% open area for minimal disruption to airflow. from
Put in new brake pads, Adjusted the seat alignment to right a touch (comfort), made a small front geometry tweak, checked every fastener I could get to, and then stared at it.
No pics, but I cut out my first kingpin last night. My son wrecked last race and bent up a bunch of stuff. I was able to make repairs enough that he could get back out for the Feature (bent tie rod, steering shaft, spindle was what I noticed at the time) and with the next race coming up, figured I’d throw on some new spindles. Had to cut one kingpin on the bottom so I could try and knock it out with a punch from the bottom, but it only went up about a half inch. That half inch gave me room to cut the top off, and I could punch it back out through the bottom. Kindof a pain, but it’s fun to work through those challenges sometimes.
Preparation for the final Stars race this weekend.
Raised my seat, replaced my stripped out motor mount, cleaned and rebuilt the carb, inspected the reeds and frame for cracks, cleaned everything and charged all batteries. Kart and trailer leave tomorrow, I fly out Thursday morning.
Left front chassis tweaked up 1/4" and towards the rear axle 1/4". On the flat table now trying to get it back straight again. Pulled the right side back into position and rewelded the C. Height wise they are now identical but i still have about 1/16" to pull the left side forward.
temps with the scoop and screen were about 5-7 degrees cooler than with the curtain installed and opened all the way. 90f ambient, 127 or so water temp vs 135 previously.
