I wonder how much a track costs…
What’s an off season? kidding
My seasons are a bit backwards. I work for a Porsche IMSA team so things don’t really have an off season. Right now we’re prepping for the 24hr of Daytona. I fill in car off weekends with karting. Since Ohio isn’t the best place to be in the winter, karting fun is on hold until summer.
This is a little o/t, but what team do you work for? My son and I will be at Daytona this year (my 9th race, his first). Maybe we can look you up.
MInd I ask what you do on the team? Thats my dream life, working on race cars and karting.
You are gonna lose your mind if he says “team pilot”.
I would probably go crazy and might die of jealousy
Does making vroom noises while sitting in the car count?
Wright motorsports
Uhhhh its better than not sitting in a real race car. still jealous. all the snowblowers starting keeps making me think im at a race.
We definitely need to be friends.
I do the composites, mechanic work, and in charge of the transporter. So a little bit of everything.
You could always make the trek down to Florida for a race. WKA is at Daytona next weekend (I think), Roar before the 24 is the following weekend, 24hr race is Jan 25th-26th, Skusa has their winter series in Jan-Feb but I’m not sure what dates, then Sebring 12hr is March 21st-22nd. Of the two, I’d choose Sebring as a spectator. Daytona is cool, but it’s almost always cold and the atmosphere isn’t as fun as Sebring. Plus, Sebring weekend will have WEC there. So you’ll see all of the cars from Europe too.
That’s cool, a friend of ours, and racer at our track, races the same series for Moorespeed. He’s given my daughter a few hot laps in his Miata at a local track. I’m sure you’ve heard of Riley Dickinson.
Dang that’s really cool. I don’t think my parents would be up for the cost of going down to race in Florida but I would love to watch wec. Wait do you mean there’s a kart race the same week as wec??! That would be incredible
Yep, I’ve heard of Riley. I helped out the cup side of our team a bit this year and he was always up battling for the lead.
No, the Sebring WEC event is a shared venue with IMSA. WEC runs the 1000 on Saturday and then we run the 12hr on Sunday (I think that’s the right days).
I’m not sure when the Skusa events are. But if they were the same weekend it’d be tough to see both. You’d pretty much have to commit to one or the other.
oh, that makes a little bit more sense. Ill see if I can make it out. Do you guys go to Limerock?
Yep, we’ll be at Lime Rock.

My son, father in law and I were at Sebring this year (2019). Great race and atmosphere. Highly Recommended.
WEC from 12:00 - 8:00 pm Friday and IMSA 10:40am to 10:40pm IIRC. Both are good shows.
Im going to that one in 2020. cant wait!
Name the place. Im either doing fab work on the race car. Been learning composites to get into the carbon world for specialty part development. And I’m a bit of a beer snob. Also, live on acreage with horses, chickens dogs etc. Never a dull moment around here.
